@The angry pro consumer gaming ga

About 3 months ago I started getting back into PC Gaming 100% because of Steam deals. I have spent less than $50 and have a backlog of incredible games (DA:Origins, New Vegas, and some classics I missed) that will last me through the end of the year.

I keep wanting to buy that so bad and it has been on super sale so many times but the DRM keeps pushing me away ~.~

And what confounds me more than anything else is how the DRM is so arbitrarily spread out in the DLC. Some doesn't seem to have any while other DLC does ..... oh well Guess I have a few days to mull it over, again.

@Scuffles

I didn't have too many problems with the DRM. Basically all I had to do was copy and paste the registration key and put it in whenever I loaded into two of the DLCs for the first time (Zombies and Moxxi). It wasn't really much hassle. And for $7.49 you really can't beat it. After you register the DLC you need to register it's all smooth sailing.

If those are the only worries you have, just go ahead and buy it. The game is a blast.

@Scuffles Don't listen to the usual suspects who complain about any and all DRM. Most/all games have DRM that if it wasn't for the whiners no one would ever notice or have any trouble with at all. A lot of the complaints and worries are based on third or fourth hand information and scaremongering, originating from *those* websites where people feel insulted they have to pay for games at all while using any excuse they can latch on to so say 'well, I'm just going to pirate it then'.

I've bought many games that allegedly had 'bad' DRM (not talking Ubisoft net connection required crap here) and have never had a single problem. Most problems are caused by old machines, machines not kept up to date or riddled with hosts of other problems. A well maintained PC rarely has problems these days.

There are two .exe files in the program folder for the first two dlcs. All you need to do is open both programs and enter in the key for each DLC before you start, and the DRM never interferes with your game again.

I'd rather no DRM, but it is fairly painless.

If you have not played this game and enjoy shooters/loot/rpg-elements, seriously buy this now. This is a SMOKING deal. I just started playing the goty edition on ps3 like two weeks ago and have been enjoying it immensely. And with Borderlands 2 coming out next year now would be a great time to play the first one!

I've been waiting for an unbeatable deal, and it looks like I found it. I wouldn't have seen it if I didn't decide to head back and play Super Meat Boy, Steam let me know about this when I was done :)

@Rain I'd also avoided Borderlands until recently (Steam Summer Camp Sale, same price). Go into it with "Duke Nukem Forever" Gearbox in mind and you *may* not be disappointed. I was expecting ... more. Perhaps the constant reminders of (the perfect) Fallout 3 threw me off. Pretty, lots of guns, but a very weak story and single-player experience that bored me quickly. Still hard to regret at $8, though.

Anyone who hasn't gotten Borderlands by now should be slapped. Well unless they buy it right now, then they're redeemed! It is a great game though. Could use some more character customization, but other than that, amazing. Also, on the PC, moving gear between characters is a hassle. No common stash or anything. The art style and everything is done very well. Too bad there's no demo. Seriously though, endless gaming hours. Tons of content, very well designed. Definitely one of the top games of all time, if you're into shooters, and Diablo-like RPG skills and loot hunting.

Some people didn't buy it yet BECAUSE of details like this. So, it was a strategic move from the beginning.

Laziness happens too.

@Marshillboy actually, i didnt pick up borderlands during the summer sale because the sale then was only for the standard game, for ten bucks, then the dlc was 2.50 each.

The GOTY edition for 7.50 is a much better deal.

Doesn't stop it from being a stellar deal.

do u need gamespy id to play online even if u bought from steam?? actually i like borderlands but somehow it makes me feel dizzy just after a few minutes playing. mayb due to the artstyle. im kinda allergic to bright colourful environment. had no problems with fallout 3.

Yes you still need a GameSpy ID, but it's not too intrusive with the logins. The art style is bright, but it works. It's mostly just cel-shaded and in desert environments which makes it seem brighter than it is.

Kinda off topic, but how much does it cost to go to the movies in the US?
Here in Mexico is as low as 1.15 dollars (even premieres) .

@eNriqeu $8-12 varying by size of city, but add an additional $3-5 for RealD 3D, more for IMAX. Saw Tron Legacy at IMAX, 2 tix plus snacks cost almost $50.
