Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC update cuts down loading times
40
Fact: nobody wants to sit through long loading times. Today's PC patch for Deus Ex: Human Revolution should cut down the time. According to the patch notes on Steam, some machines have seen load times decreased by over 50%.
On top of the load times, a start-up crash affecting certain AMD/ATI hardware configurations has been addressed. Mouse sensitivity has also been tweaked, which should hopefully alleviate that problem you had where you would keep running up to dudes and punching them in the face, over and over again.
Oh, wait, that's how you're playing the game? Well, carry on then.

patch is excellent and loading times have dramatically increased. My only issue is that there seems to be some slight graphical stuttering/jitter with ATI/AMD 6970, does anyone else notice this as well?

What do you mean? I get a little laggy feeling once in a while.
Although, my frames per second are always above 55 FPS (when I look) on a single card. When I'm running SLI, I don't get this though.
Thought it was a small unoptimized glitch for Nvidia cards. (Being that this game is sponsored by AMD)

Thank The Gaming God.
Waiting through 16 Seconds on a load screen every time I enter a new area/died/got caught was annoying.
My load times have been lowered to an average 7 seconds now. Which I'm cool with.
Thanks Edios. BTW: Great Game.

But why did it have long load times to begin with?
Don't these people test their games.

Ive heard alot about the load times on consoles and pc. I hate long load times. But ive been playing it on a console, load times seem normal to me. Maybe its the same people thats told me crysis 2 looked great on consoles. I can think of 100 games on each console that look better. Someone out there is smokin dat weed. Deus is great so far, by the way.

That is because the load times on the consoles are pretty normal compared to other console games.
Deus Ex: HR on the PC with load times of 18 Seconds is super slow compared to other PC games.
and btw; list those 100 games, on each console, that look better than Crysis 2.
I'm not a fan of Crysis 2 but, it is in the top 10 of best looking console games.

I was complaining about loads times to myself last night and then today they were drastically shorter. It seems like 85% faster than before. Were it would take 15 - 30 seconds before it takes between 3 and 5 seconds now. So I looked at the update history and what do you know, they fixed the load times and some other stuff. Im happy.
I havent had any graphical issues or any issues at all. Im using an XFX Radeon 5870.

Playing through the 360 version the load times aren't as bad as I thought. They're still kind of annoying but it's not like we're talking about DNF.

when i was running off disk, they were around 25 seconds. after install to HDD, it's around 16 seconds or so. not great, but not terrible.

Mine has been plagued with crashing. Crashed 8 times in one sitting.
Still logged about 12 hours so far, so I guess I haven't cared much :P

8 times in one sitting? How long was that sitting? I'm only about 3 hours in but the game has been rock solid.
I used to have frequent game crashes before I disabled Windows 7's Timeout Delay and Recovery in the registry. The system's been solid ever since.

I was disappointed cause I installed it on an SSD drive and the load times were still 15-20 seconds or so. Now with this update they dropped to 3 seconds. So I'd say there was a pretty serious bug in the game before the update.

Is this game worth a buy? It's had good reviews across the board and is supposed to be a worthy successor to the original, but I've never played the original.

It's like cyberpunk Morrowind.
Kinda.
So, yes.

@Iron Man it is a great and worthy successor to the original, and if you like Mass Effect/Metal Gear Solid with a touch of BladeRunner/Neuromancer cyberpunk, you're gonna love it

I've not had this stuttering problem at all, guess I'm lucky.
The patch made a HUGE difference in the load times, though. I did a half-assed count yesterday and some would be 30 seconds, some almost 40.
Now I get load times of between 10 and 18 seconds.

I had a slight stuttering problem at the start but its since reduced greatly. This patch has really decreased load times by almost half so I'm happy.
So far I'm rather impressed with the game. The last PC shooter I bought was Brink, so maybe its almost too easy to love this game in comparison :)

when from about 15 second loads down to about 5 for loading a save. Good job Eidos! :] love the game so far! only beat the first boss but doing some side quests in the city! so far 13 hours in according to steam.

just noticed the shorter load times while playing, didn't see it in the patch notes til later but definitely noticed it.
now if they can just fix the glitch in the Family Ties side mission, i got the achievements using an older save file, but those 1000xp would be nice.
your move Squeenix

isn't R3 to zoom standard on applicable weapons in Halo games? Can't say that's a foreign setting. Even though LT should always be zoom in a shooter.

I actually noticed the mouse sensitivity more than I noticed decreased load times. It was really hard to aim and even look around at first because it would keep going a little bit after you stopped moving the mouse, but after the patch it was fine. Headshots everywhere!
