Me too. I know BioWare says that TOR has more content than a KOTOR 3 and 4 would of have (or something like that), but I want a single-player epic, god damnit, rather than being Jedi Hero #183819.

SWTOR's stories so far have been considerably under par. Just because they're good under MMO standards does not mean they're good under real RPG standards.

Also, I firmly believe that no MMO can share a truly intimate story. It doesn't help that you see 100 corsos (NPC) following people. It breaks the third wall so to speak. If someone could actually create an immersive world where you don't see the same characters and the fellow players around you don't seem like they're being herded from quests and other jaunts, MMOs could be deeper. But it's simply never going to happen. It's totally unfeasible to program such a random world without noticing patterns while still making it an even playing experience.

Bioware is simply full of shit when they act like TOR is a better option. It's simply a potentially more wealthy option.

TOR will still be fun (only by MMO standards) and by mid cycle it'll probably make up for Kotor II but it would be cheaper, faster and easier to just give us 2 new Kotors.

@Mmmmz Honestly, I don't feel like they have to make up for KotOR2 considering they had almost nothing to do with it.

Kotor II was a great game, if you think otherwise then you need a reality check.

No, they said it has enough content to fill KOTR 3-6. They didnt say it *was* KOTR 3+ on. It's a typical comment people mistook since everyone dreams of a KOTR.

KOTR actually has little to do with the overall story. I would say "nothing to do", but one part does glare at you before you slay it.

Amen, brother.

Rushed development cycle? Yes.
Oppressive publisher? Yes.
Fantastic results given a relatively unknown (at the time) studio? Absolutely.

The tone and atmosphere of KotOR II is unlike that of any game I've ever played. I still replay it to this day.

Kotor II was a good but very uneven game that left you with a story arc with absolutely no resolution. it was bug plagued and had an incredible amount of content cut from it.

Anyone who thinks it's a great game is simply too much of a fanboy to see reality. It's a GOOD game but it could have been much better and was indeed planned to be much better. Just take a gander of all the content cut due to mismanagement and idiotic pressure to release a game "on time" that wouldn't have been hurt in the slightest if it were delayed. On the contrary it hurt it to be released unfinished.

And of course Bioware doesn't have to make up for anything but it was their choice to give the development to Obsidian (of all people, especially at the time) so they could work on Jade Empire. Which was actually a GREAT game but I would have rather had a proper Kotor II.

You know, you can criticize something and still enjoy it, and something can be criticized without threatening your delicate nature...

KOTOR II one of the most disappointing games of all time. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to actually finish the game. The last act is hillariously awful.

You said it.

I'm sure many thought that by now, players would be over this. But we're not. We can't be. Every time we think back to the story from the KOTOR seiries and then look at the graphics of Mass Effect, we are remined of what COULD have been if Bioware had given us what we wanted.

Not another MMO to get crushed by WoW. Instead an amazing single player game to once again compete for game of the year and gain legendary status.

The potential of what could have been when combining MASS EFFECT graphics with KOTOR story, will never be forgotten. No matter how good/bad this MMO is.

Once again, you saying things does not make them so. Just because someone thinks a game is great does not make them a mindless fanboy. And just because you think TOR has underwhelming stories does also not make that so.

Also, it's breaking the 'fourth wall'. And if you play the game without expecting it to be KOTOR 3, there's no issue. I expect to see other players running around enjoying the same stuff I currently am. TOR is not a replacement for KOTOR, it's a different type of game set in the same universe with a lot of the same gameplay mechanics.

KOTORII *could've* been a great game, if it hadn't hit the shelves as a rushed mess. The producer revealed how much of the endgame was brutally chopped out in order to meet deadlines, and it wasn't pretty.

When even the devs have gone on record saying that they wished there had been enough time to finish the game properly, it's not a matter of opinion to say the title was lacking. But yeah, the makings of a solid sequel were in there, they just needed 6-8 more months of gestation.

Blame goes to Bioware for relinquishing the title and basically a series, then lucasarts for allowing it and pressuring a woefully inadequate studio that has talent but can never and has never taken pressure well.

No single party is to blame, like all Star Wars content (*cough* Unleashed 2) there's idiots everywhere mismanaging the Star Wars license. If only it were so simple to blame a single entity then we could have good Star Wars games, consistently.

A proper unleashed 2 and 3.
A reboot of X-wing or logical X-Wing MMOG
Kotor III
A proper Bounty Hunter game
and so on and so forth. Wet dreams and all that...

@Mmmmz Unleashed 2? More like the entire Unleashed series. What a disappointing mess of a series. It's stuck in the last generation in every aspect of its design with the sole redeeming quality being an above average *new* story set in the Star Wars saga that was completely ruined in the sequel. LucasArts needs to forget about Unleashed entirely and work on a new Star Wars action/adventure formula.

Obsidian did a great job, they improved upon all the base mechanics that Bioware created for the first KOTOR and made a compelling story that was also longer.

The prospect of a X-wing or better yet Tie-Fighter reboot is something I would pay a ridiculous amount of money for. Tie-fighter is still to this day one of the greatest games I've ever played, and as much as I'm looking forward to TOR, I would drop it in a heartbeat for a new version of either of those games.
