Nice to see the Granddaddy on Android. I would be interested if I didn't have Dimensions on Xbox, but still awesome. Now port R-Type Final to current consoles!

"All of the items and power-ups from the original are said to be present and accounted for, with touch controls taking over for the obviously absent joystick and buttons."

No fair, my Android phone has buttons! If this lets me use them, I might actually buy it.

Meh, I have an Android but also an iPad - they've already ported it to the App Store and I'm guessing this is the same. Maybe I'll buy it since I don't really have any games on my Incredible.

That opening paragraph made me crack up and think of all the cars with the coffee can exhaust pipes

Yeah, R-Type is more like a Mustang: classic, and able to hold up years later.

This series was hard enough using a joystick/control pad. I can't imagine being able to even get past the first level using touch controls.

This game pisses me off.

Why? I actually prefer games like R-Type. I absolutely despise the "bullet hell" shooters that have oversaturated shmups as of late. Shooters with deliberate memorizable patterns (such as R-Type and Gradius) let you learn from your errors, not punish you by spraying bullets randomly such that you can't dodge in time.

R-Type > Gradius

These are facts.

R-Type really was imaginative for its time. Irem made a number of other good ones that are worth checking out if you never did before.
