Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition DLC adds color, commentary
71
Capcom has announced a few different DLC packs for Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, thereby eradicating any doubt that the popular fighter hadn't been properly modernized.
The first pack, due on the week of Sept 6th, is the fairly self-explanatory (and immediately repulsive) "Color Pack 1." The first of several makeovers, it'll add 7 new colors per character, though these will not be saved in replay files and will not be viewable by opponents who don't own the DLC. It's up to you to describe the many ways in which they're missing out.
You'll also be able to download music packs, which add tunes from Street Fighter III's older entries (New Generation and Second Impact), within "the next month or so." Lastly, Capcom's planning to use "Match Pack" DLC as a vector to satisfy spectators. Two packs offer an hour's worth of content each, drawn from high-level matches saved during a "semi-secret" Capcom tournament and paired with commentary by James Chen. We'll learn more about their price and educational value later in the year.

I'd buy the game and pay more on top of that for a ROAR pack where if I successfully parried 5 moves in a row or cancelled an opponents ultra, a virtual crowd would roar as if to say "OH NO YOU DIDN'T"
Maybe have a slider to lower and raise the expectation of the crowd because I suck at the game and i wanna feel like Diago!

See its new like this that makes people mad at Capcom. There's lots of people who'd die to get a sequel to Capcom older franchises, but instead get rehashes and extensions. Breath of Fire, Dino Crisis, Megaman (Legends, X), Darkstalkers,Onimusha, etc. Capcom has plenty options. What happens? Another fighting game. At least they know how to make a good fighting game, if only they'd sell a complete one, or at least be more open with us.

Technically this IS a complete game. It's the exact same game you played in arcades/on Dreamcast ten years ago. It's a full game as-is.
This is superfluous crap that, for once, IS totally unneeded DLC. The reason this is facepalm-worthy is that this is pointless crap that no one with brains will buy, just like...well, the Tales of Vesperia "DLC" that let you buy levels and gold with your spacebucks. Superfluous? Yes. Stupid? Definitely. But not an integral part of the game.

Yes, I'd have to agree with you. By complete I guess I was refering to how every recent Capcom seems to have add-ons of some kind when they could have been apart of the game orginally. And would've 5-8 years ago. Extra costumes? Ok, kinda cool. Extra colors? As you said, superfluous.

The sad part is, even alternate costumes were free not too long ago. But yeah, it's a shame that the legacy of one of Capcom's finest 2D fighters is being tarnished by modern-day cash-grabbing tactics.

lol @ all the noobs crying "WHY IZ CAPCOM TAKING MY MONIEZ". they have been doin this since street fighter 2 came out.
Street fighter 2 had 7 versions
Marvel vs capcom 1 had 5 versions
Street fighter alpha had 5 versions
Street fighter 3 had 3 versions
Etc etc etc, it seems like only recently fans have been crying about this. If you dont want a capcom update dont buy it. simple as that they have been doing this for years and it works so they will keep doing it

What reason could I POSSIBLY want the DLC when the game I downloaded is the exact same game I had on Dreamcast? There is absolutely no advantage to this DLC. I would like to be optimistic and say that most gamers will feel the same...
...but some moron will go, "OOOOH, SHINY COLORS" and plunk down the cash for palette swaps.

Wow, 51 comments for such shitty DLC? I bet capcom doesn't even make money selling this to people, they just have a deal with news blogs to keep doing it for pageviews.

Pay for colours? Capcom Vs SNK had its own colour editor.
Capcom is dead to me. Eff'em, I can live without your endless, creatively sterile rehashes of games I played a billion times 20 years ago.

You are kinda fishing for hate Ludwig by not saying the price.
Its only $2.99 for the colour pack, which includes 7 colours for each character.
You don't have to buy colours, music or videos, its not like they are withholding characters. The game is very complete feature wise as it is.
