"Pac-Man (Game Boy) (Nintendo, 1 player, $3.99): When we were your age, we had to play Pac-Man with a scrolling maze, in black and white. And we liked it!"
Don't you mean black and pea-green? :P

It is slightly pathetic isn't it. If the 3DS lasts 5 years then 1 GB a week is 260 games. That's a lot but they need to get some good games on there and by the time its running mighty and proud they could rely on 3DSware titles.

But will they fudge. Let the drip drip continue

@Jawmuncher I hope we see more 3D games on the 3Dsware shop.

There's ONE 3D game. ONE.
I didn't buy a 3DS to play 20 year old games, which seems to be the only point in owning the 3DS right now.

@hami83 There are four. There's that 3D golf game, but then three 3D NES remakes.

It's nowhere near enough either way.

I'm getting sick of JQ's bitching about 10 free games, nobody forced you to dl them. I'm only taking a few since I've already played the rest on Wii VC>

@(Unverified) Joystiq has apparently never heard of the phrase "Don't look a gift-horse in the mouth."

If commenters are going to keep complaining about the continued existence of downloadable content or the fact that yes, Virginia, there is another Call of Duty game coming out this year (5 years after the series has become annualized,) then Joystiq should still be able to take jabs at day old news of a needlessly convoluted (and time consuming) process.

@(Unverified) That process is really overblown.

So instead of going to the store and searching the name of the game I want, then picking it, then downloading it....

I go to Settings, Game Downloads and click on it to download it.

It's no more time consuming than anything else on the service. You can't download more than one thing at a time anywhere in the e-shop. You can't queue anything up the in the e-shop.

It's not how I expected to get these games, but they're clearly just adding them to people's accounts and leaving it at that.

I just don't get how this is such a big deal that we have to hear about it daily from everyone. When I first read the initial post on how to get these games, I was under the impression it was just going to be plain awful. It's hardly something worth being upset over.

Now transferring DSi games to a 3DS? THAT is convoluted and time consuming.

Yeah it's not really that hard, just trying too hard to complain about the 3DS.

@Softserve

The fact that it kicks you back to square 1 every time you finish downloading a game, and have to repeat the process 10 more times, is more of my beef than anything else. Then again, I did it in between Mass Effect loading times so, whatever.

@baby sea tuna It stinks, sure.

But I'm not sure what the alternative really is. People seem to have rather this showed up as everything else in the store.

Yet all you do in the store is find the item and download it. Then find the next item and download it. That wouldn't save any time at all. The only difference is you go to a slightly different place for it.

It'd take forever either way because of how Nintendo has the eshop set up in general. Yet all of these articles make this sound like some new crazy thing that's exclusive to these games.

It's stupid.

Exactly, downloading the games is not a big deal. I downloaded five of them today just to see. It's mildly annoying if you DL them all at once, but you could always DL one, play it, then DL another later, etc. It takes maybe a minute to download a game; even if you only play it for ten minutes that's not a high proportion.

The real catch is they're all crap :) Sorry, I get that Super Mario Bros and original Zelda and Metroid are classics and all that, and 20 years ago I'm sure they were fantastic and I'd have been all over them. But I have zero interest in NES games now. Still this isn't a complaint - it's free stuff, I bought 3DS without expecting free stuff, if I don't like the free stuff it's not a problem.

Also, GBA games are a touch less retro, so maybe I'll like some of that set later on, who knows.

It really boggles my mind how Nintendo will not release their big titles for download. They have plenty to choose from, yet they select these games that hardly anyone knows about. Can you imagine how much fans would freak out if they released Earthbound?

All they have to do is release ONE good title a week and people will have a bigger incentive to play/purchase a 3DS.

Side note: Earthbound is $104 on amazon. The eShop could easily remedy this problem...

The Earthbound issue has been discussed ad infinitum. In short, it's never going to be re-released and it's due to licensing/music issues. If it does get re-released expect different music and expect a major shit storm over it from idiots.

But yes, I totally don't understand why they're dragging their ass on the eShop. How the hell can a company (used to)make so much money not be able to push things forward much faster. Even twice the speed for releases would be a godsend.

Why not the arcade version of PACMAN, or Ms. Pacman, or Pacmania?
Why the inferior NES titles. Sure they look and play ok but give us true ARCADE titles for our money! Give us our portalbe arcade NIRVANA!

DANG IT!

It's not even the NES version, it's the GB one.

Wasn't there a GBC version? Why didn't they go with THAT one, I wonder?

Correct, there was a GBC one called "Pac-Man: Special Color Edition". It included Pac-Man and Pac-Attack.

@BPMOmega XBL PSN Steam Who knows anymore. I'm still somewhat annoyed that they put Donkey Kong on there and did nothing with the Super Gameboy enhancements.

If a free emulator can handle the color upgrades then Nintendo could have figured it out.

The eShop needs more consistency of good backlog titles in their weekly updates. gargoyle quest is amazing, then there's Pacman and I doubt next week will be spectacular. On a sidenote, I'm still butthurt that they give undeserving titles like Urban Champions the 3D treatment. There are better titles.

Trenches is EXCELLENT, however it's available for Mac, PC, iOS... and soon, Android, for much much cheaper ($1.99 on iOS, and last time I checked it was $6.00 on Mac/PC.)
