Wow. This is really sad -- such a great game.

I agree, it was a little light on content for a full-price game. But still... Rez always deserved a proper sequel, and it was nice to see it show up in style. It should have been released at $29.99, rather than shuffled off to the bargain bin so soon after release.

This is the last game I paid full launch price for when it came out like 2 months ago.

Aaaand this is why I rarely buy games at launch anymore. :(

I'm sorry I have to play devil's advocate here, but joystiq, you are an independent video games blog, and I know you were only making a pun, but there are still some minor issues with telling people they better buy a game.

Sorry if that made me sound like a d**k, but you wouldn't see an advertism-based pun on the news or anything.

The title is just for fun. Read the actual article.

"If you're even a little bit interested in rail-shooting your way through surreal imagery to the "Heavenly" tunes of the Genki Rockets -- and you're not already picking it up in a Kinect bundle, for free -- you should just go ahead and pull the trigger"

They are making a recommendation for a good game at an amazing price. Is this any different from any other gaming site that reviews a great game and says that you're crazy or something if you don't go right out and buy it?

I bought this a couple months ago at $30, and just played it for the first time yesterday. This game is a ton of fun. Buy it!

You can play it without the Kinect via controller, but I haven't tried that yet. (Why would I?)

Yes its playable without kinect, but its really not the same game. I highly recommend playing it with kinect.

I agree with joystiq on this one, but here is the original article:

Still waiting on the PS3 version of this since I have a Move controller but no Kinect for my 360. This is still a really great deal for Kinect owners or people who don't mind using the controller! Hopefully this will move more copies of the game

Don't have a Kinect and I'm not trolling, but before people buy you should read the reviews. I heard it only has like an hour of gameplay.

I've played it about 4 hours and still can't get past the 3rd boss so, your mileage may very.

still, game length =/= game quality

@Fire Walk With Me

You can make that argument about most games. Chasing down unlocks and achievements via multipe playthroughs can add value for some people, but multipe playthroughs doesn't mean it's not a short game. Many people won't care about the rest of the stuff.

Sad to see something different sell so badly. I hope it will do better on PS3 when it is released, but I have my doubts.

@Pure Black World Tendency - It's unfortunate but at the same time, the game was so light on content that it didn't really deserve to sell well at $50.

I'm normally 100% against judging a game based on length but when a game has so little content for that price, it's justified.

Just bought one. I have been interested in this game since it was announced. Sadly, when I heard from a friend that bought it on day one that he beat it in the first day I decided to wait. Just bought it now though.

You know, I don't want to sound cruel, but this sounds like it should have been the price to begin with.

Hell, the game sounds like it could have been an XBLA title at $10-$15.

Not knocking the game or its devs, just saying that sometimes the $60 standard really doesn't do games any favors.

@Red Runner

I was impressed by the critical reception, but when all the reviews said it could be beaten in as little as 1.5-3 hrs, I said the same thing: XBLA game. I decided to wait until it was 10-15 bucks and now I just placed my order online.

For those who don't have a store real close, you can put it in your basket online and choose an option to pick up at store, after which you can check store availability, to see if your local store has it in stock or not.

Just ran to best buy. 2 copies left. $9.99 is the price. Huge bargain. I fel the 30 price tag would have been better price point but Im not complaining at $10 for a great game.

Wow, that is a great deal. It necessarily doesn't mean that Ubi isn't making money, just that BestBuy wants to move more units. But who knows for sure.

I'm interested in the game, but without a Kinect it seems a bit pointless. Kinect will have to wait til next year. Sorry.

WHAT?!?!?!??!?!!??!!?!!? Thanks Joystiq! I wasn't planning on checking Slickdeals before I headed into work today but Best Buy is on my way and I ended up turning down Child of Eden at launch specifically because my "play area" doesn't particularly like the Kinect + CoE setup. It always marked my hands as tracking far too low. I wanted to wave my hands around like a tool to kill things but I ended up having to lean forward in the posture of a Gorilla just to get everything to track properly. I'm sure it is because I am just at the "you're too close" distance but other games don't respond so extremely in said situation, and no amount of tuning or adjustment seemed to help. I might have been doing something wrong there but my pride doesn't allow that to be an option considering I work on games that may or may not use them all day. I sure hope not otherwise I might not be able to forgive myself and just retire to another profession.

In any case the game is magnificent. For 10 dollars I will gladly play through the game with a standard controller even though all I wanted from you Kinect+Child of Eden was to sit on my chair and wave my hands in the air like I just didn't care.

I picked this up when it was $30 at Gamestop that one week, and it was worth the cost then, and for $9.99 you people have no more excuses.

Those who say it is a 90 minute game are wrong. The base game maybe, but going back to get 100% purification and build the garden is going to take a minimum of 12 complete game runs (12 items per each level, 5 levels in the game itself).

I got Fallout New Vegas for $10 and Dark Void for $5 when Best Buy did those games, so this is my karmic evening out.

If you like Rez in any way - GO. GET. THIS. GAME. NOW!
