Continuing the series of prologue videos for Dark Souls is today's extra creepy, lyrical reading of Part 2. It seems that at least one more entry awaits, wherein all will be explained (presumably). We'll start steadying our shields now in anticipation.
Dark Souls continues the prologue in ghastly poetic verse

Oh, I was hoping this was part 3... Already saw this part from the Dark Souls facebook page. But otherwise this is pretty sweet, its starting to get into the npc characters in the game. October 4th can't come soon enough!

After playing the first Demon Souls, I hope to see even more awesomeness and "frustrations" I had from the first one. Nothing makes you feel more accomplished when you down a massive dragon god after being literally punched to death 20 times in a row.

Don't know why this was downvoted, Dragon God is arguably easier than a 1-1 dregling. The scale of it was awesome, but I didn't feel any "WOW!" after killing it like many of the other bosses, he seemed so helpless.

The issue is that you're thinking about it the wrong way. The big thing with Demons Souls was the fact that the game was "too fair" in that all monsters and player characters had the same behaviors. Everything in that world felt very real because their mortality was felt. Fighting large demons shouldn't, and wouldn't be easy.
Now, with that being said, imagine going up against a Dragon God. It wouldn't be possible, at all. So there had to be some creativity by the development team on how you would beat such a beast. This is how they did it and if you think it about it, it's perfect.

Dark Souls has what's missing in video games today.
- Scary monsters can and will kill your ass mercilessly
- If there is a cliff, you can fall off (nothing puts me down like invisible walls on a cliffside)
- Encourages exploration and discovery without hand holding
Most games today are made to be fast, pleasing money makers. Products to satisfy the hopeless masses. Demon's Souls, and Dark Souls, brings us back to a time when a game felt more like a window into a dangerous fantasy world.
I can't wait.

It has risk/reward in droves, which is what's really missing in today's games.

I actually just finished Demon's Souls for the first time. I don't remember having such a love/hate "relationship" with any other game.
I mean, I hate this game so much. And I love it.

I'm still amazed that Sony is letting them get away with this. They have exclusive publishing rights to the Demon's Souls IP, and this is clearly a sequel. They even recycled some key sound effects and models.
Regardless, it's nice that more people will get to enjoy the rewarding punishment this series doles out. Day one for me.
