@Guilter I dont know why youve been downvoted, this is awful, its the same crap. I saw nothing that was "ramped up". I hope this franchise goes down like guitar hero.
@xenophy dude some people buy it for the story mode. bc3 look the same shit to same old 30pts same old shit you get to fly ooh they added jets mw2 added ac130 chopper gunner so just take the game and play it for what it ment for.
@The Cole Train id consider you a troll though, hes made valid points(though in broken english) so dont tell him to shut up. HUURRRR MY OPINIONS DIFFERENT NEVER TALK AGAIN DUUURRRR. hes saying their both rehashes of shitty games and we should be ashamed of being casual fanboys in the first place. seriously though i'm looking forward to the coming trailers to see what improvements they've accomplished.
@pistolwhip349 by single player you mean that half assed campaign that was strapped to modern warfare 2? Black Ops did a significantly better job with the single player but that was the only thing that made it any different. Its still all about the multiplayer for both Infinity Ward and Treyarch. There is not going to be anything new going on here
What I think is the problem, is that most players see an FPS franchise like an evolving animal. The next step of evolution, or the next title, is most likely going to be very different, or very unique, especially compared to the one before it. And most do that, like Battlefield. But what people have to understand, is that the developers aren't treating Call of Duty like that. What they do to the franchise is actually more comparable to a fighting game.
They take a formula that people liked, take out what was unbalanced, and add in a few new things that make it feel fresh. You don't see Street Fighter or BlazBlue dramatically changing their play styles, because players who enjoy competing in fighting games like it the way it is.
Just try looking at it like that. And FYI, I'm a Battlefield player.
@xenophy jeez, why are you on here? to complain? im actually looking forward to it because i loved mw2. like the style of it. black ops was just awful. but dont expect cod to die out anytime soon. they make way too much money to die.
I think it's funny how after BF3 became the "cool" thing all the BF3 forums are full of rage, but the biggest MW3 forum (http://www.mw3forum.com/) is mostly full of people saying good things.
@Keyelite all i saw was a typical online match where my team continues to die and rush right back in tho get killed again. wow you got 15 kills! way to go, you had 25 deaths though....
@Colostomeboy I can't wait for this game. I remember when Battlefiled used to be fun on the consoles before they started this destructible environments gimmick. I know I would hate for Call of Duty to change each game and become so unfamiliar each game. Many series stick to their original format and sell well. Halo, Madden, everything Nintendo.. All I see here are Battlefield fanboys trolling because this isn't Battlefield. Dome of the complaints you all mention are true for many other series yet they also sell like hotcakes.
If anything I wish Battlefield returns to it's original gameplay of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat where the game was actually fun and not so much as a sniper fest. Battlefield Bad Company series is just frustrating now. You may call it "realistic" (have you even been in a real war lol?) but the game is just too far spread out, 70% of the weapons won't kill anything without emptying your entire load, who really wants to be a medic lol?.. bring back spec ops, and the thing that keeps me on Call of Duty more than anything are BATTLEFIELD'S SLOW ANIMATIONS.
I used to play Battlefield Modern Combat religiously just like Star Wars Battlefront but if this series now requires "skill" over fun then I no longer want to be apart of it. I rather have a "skill" in something that actually matters, not a video game. Video games are supposed to be for entertainment and Battlefiled used to be my entertainment. Constant change is not always good people.
While I disagree with just about everything you say (I mean, you really just used Madden, a series often chastised for it's lack of change, as a defense for CoD's lack of change) that middle paragraph stands out like a sore thumb and is spoken like someone that didn't give BC2 more than a handful of minutes of their time. There isn't a single weapon that needs you to unload it's entire clip to get a kill, yes, it isn't as fast as CoD, but you make it seem like the damage system in Battlefield is like Halo's. I also love to play as a medic because not only do you get the LMGs which are powerful in their own regard, you also get to play a team focused role and feel like you are providing more of a contribution instead of blindly rushing in to get some kills like CoD.
Battlefield takes no more "skill" than CoD does, it just takes a different mindset. Battlefield encourages teamwork and, more specifically, working with your squad as opposed to the more individual oriented aspect of CoD. Just because you find CoD's approach more enjoyable doesn't mean Battlefield is horrible, just that it doesn't appeal to what you want which is a more casual approach focused on easy kills (to inflate stats and egos : ) ).
I just don't understand the hate. Do you guys want a reboot of the franchise every year?
For all you know they are working a on an all new engine and game design for the next generation while releasing these yearly updates in the meantime. or would you rather they just release nothing and lay people off?
The easy sales of these games will help fund something bigger and better when the time comes.
@eat it I'm not asking for them to reinvent the wheel every year. But all the multiplayer trailers so far have shown a little originality. Like how last year, the Blops trailer teased theatre mode and showed off customisable reticles etc. This showed nothing that looked original. Nothing.
Thats because Infinity Ward got the COD gameplay formula right, its not their fault EA sucks and has to change their gameplay formula every time and still fail.
No, we just demand that something about the game be new and improved. At this point all COD games are $60 map packs with a few couple extras thrown in (some new weapons/rarely a truly NEW perk). The MW series is getting stagnant, seeing as most of the weapons shown in this trailer as well as the attachments are exactly the same as prior MW games. I mean it looks fun but I KNOW that in 2 weeks after I'd buy it, it would be back on my shelf because of the boredom I'd experience because it lacked anything new to me, I buy NEW games for NEW things.
People act as if nothing could change between each COD, which doesn't make sense when so many other FPS series have altered plenty of things to upgrade their experience, yet here is COD with nothing new going for it.
@ANOTHERE I'm not looking for them to change the formula. I'm not some mindless COD troll, I like the series but to ask for a few new features every year to mix it up a bit shouldn't be a big deal. They did it last year with the currency system and theatre mode etc. But in this trailer, there was nothing new that made me want to check it out.
so don't buy it. I don't see how this franchise is different from any other. regardless of how many sequels there are, they release a great version once every two or three years. the same as any other.
@DavieD123 Definitely agree with DavieD123 on this one... and the layoff rebuttal is lame - if you're going to put out sh!t year after year, get a new job: loyalists deserve more than dropping $60 on new skins and crappy DLC. But hey, sh!t sells. Lots of 15 year-olds out there who need something, anything.
It's disappointment in it's most incredulous form.
It's also gloating because we're at the point that we finally get to prove that sales figures mean NOTHING in the face of the better product. We finally get to watch Modern Warfare fall flat on it's face and we're just laughing at Activision now.
The true hatred is coming from the fanboys who know the truth but continue to vehemently defend this tired franchise. It's proof that they know the inevitable truth.
I say unto them: "Fight the good fight... But know when to retreat."
@eat it Unless I see something that doesn't make me think I might as well just play MW2 or Blops, I don't intend to buy it. And I'll make the point again, I'm not criticising the FRANCHISE, I'm criticising this GAME. All previous CODs, while similar, have at least introduced new features and revamped multiplayer a bit to make things interesting, whether it's introducing customisable killstreaks or the currency system. My original point was that unlike previous years, this trailer showed nothing new and has left me very underwhelmed.
I think what a lot of you guys fail to realize is that not every person that played CoD4 has played WAW, MW2, Black OPs and not everyone that buys this game will have played all of the previous ones.
for millions of people THIS GAME WILL BE ENTIRELY NEW!!!
ACCEPT IT. children will turn into teenagers and buy this for the first time. adults will move on to other hobbies and other games. people will skip a version here and there.
personally I barely played Blops so I'm really looking forward to this.
I think all of you people asking activision to take a break need to listen to your own advice.
An entire reboot every year is not what is expected at all. I would like to see this series at least try to reach a little to add something new - not necessarily a complete overhaul. If any bit of me gets excited watching this, it is over the new levels and killstreaks...but that is it. I am honest enough with myself to get past that facade and see that this is the same game. It's like buying one big DLC package! Like someone said, it's shiny enough to get you to buy it but is as shallow as a $2 whore afterwards. Maybe that is what some people need I guess. MW3 is going to get its money, no doubt - but there are no new leaves being turned over here...same 'ol same 'ol.
Its not a matter of whether or not anyone has played Black Ops or WaW,
It is a matter of taking the Modern Warfare outcrop for what it is, barely changing and bringing nothing new.
I understand this game may be special to you, and many millions more, but for the sake of stating whether or not COD is a "creative" and "innovative" franchise, well that my friend is an aspect of COD that died a few years ago.
"Oh, come on. Saying that developers shouldn't aim to innovate because lots of people haven't played COD before is such a silly argument. "
Is it really though? as far as I can tell each version sells more than the last. how many billions are they making by churning these out? if they change it too much they might just scare some people away.
accept the fact that this game is made for the majority. and that is not you.
I think it is silly to say that. That is exactly like saying that because 1 person out of 10 just started playing TWO of a series of SIX or so games and really liked those two, that the other 9 people who have played the entire thing and demand something new should just shutup and listen to that ONE person who just wants the cycle to continue as it is.
That makes absolutely no sense. And your defending a game that "isn't even out yet" as you said before, yet YOU yourself haven't played it and don't know what to expect, so for all you know you may have an epiphany the day after you pick it up and say, "well hell they were right"
I understand majority will always rule, but defending a game that YES is still fairly enjoyable, but is obviously just releasing new games for the obvious monetary gain alone, well that is ludicrous.
Dude, this is a teaser trailer that they released in the first hour of a weekend long event. I'm sure they've got plenty of features similar to the ones that black ops added that they'll be talking about and revealing this weekend.
This video wasn't about revealing new features, it was about getting people hyped up for an event that starts in a few hours.
@Vcize As I've said before, I'm no COD troll. If the game ends up looking decent, I'll probably pick it up. But my original point was this trailer showed nothing new to get excited about, and was pretty underwhelming. It certainly did no favours for people who believe the COD series is running dry.
Global warfare is raging and the battle will begin on November 8 when the cultural phenomenon Modern Warfare returns with the worldwide release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the newest installment in Activision's #1 first person action series being developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games.
