I still don't understand the overwrought enthusiasm over this short and the fact that it's been propped up as an amazing interpretation. It really boggles my mind how it's just been uniformly accepted as "fantastic." This is literally "The Bourne Identity with a Portal Gun." A bland, generic action thriller with the portal gun thrown in to dazzle fans of the games and make them go "whooooo."

It's one of those things where you wish they would just make something original (if the tone and build of it is going to be far removed from the original work) instead of tacking it on to the original work that has already been proven. Sometimes remakes and personal takes on original works can show something new, genuinely satisfying and dynamic, but No Escape just feels completely useless to me.

"Outside Aperture" is much more in the spirit and tone of Portal. It's not perfect, but I think it's a lot more clever and thoughtfully paced.

Couldn't they have found a younger actress? She looked way too old to be Chell.
Had to fast forwaded through loads of the start as it just wasn't interesting in the slightest.

Lol at people using the default Final Cut filters. What is this 1997 with people using Photo Shop lensflares?

I'm not impressed. Slow piano tracks, gritty settings and slow pacing doesn't make something good and I wish directors would learn that. There are thousands of short films using that formula and it gets so old so fast.

I guess to the uninitiated its good, I can see how you'd think that.

The only thing I wanted after watching this video was for Portal 3 or Half Life 3 to have chases using the portal gun. Puzzles were okay. We've had 2 games of (fairly easy) puzzles. Now let's throw the portal gun into an action setting.

It wasnt much of a film, it was just your typical "oh look what I kind do! hollywood please let me direct Transformers 4!" They really have to stop trolling us, first mortal kombat now this.

This film has almost nothing to do with Portal. There's no humor, it's dreary as all hell and it's certainly NOT fantastic. Oh did I mention that NOTHING HAPPENS? She looks at things a lot, tries to escape, but can't. Stunning stuff. If you took away the portal gun in this film you'd end up with SAW 8. I love the Portal games and TRS, but I just cannot support such a subpar adaptation.

Since obviously, everyone has an opinion, here's mine. All of the those that either didn't like it, or thought it was boring, here's something to think about before you start typing.... If you can do better, than either put up or shut up!!!!

All I can see is Sarah Connors (Linda Hamilton) in Terminator when I look at the beginning of this short. She is in a cell and she is working out and eventually she escapes. Even older than Borne Identity as some one else mentioned.

The short is not bad but not really that original.
