MGO can be great fun, although there is a pretty vicious skill-curve.

Team sneaking is one of mu favourite game modes ever.

It has to do with the fact the WiFi card is in ad-hoc mode and talking to the PSP. The WiFi card can't simultaneously talk to a router and the PSP.

Because the PS3 and PSP communicate over a Wi-Fi connection, and the PS3 is only capable of connecting to one device at a time over Wi-Fi. (Just to clarify, not Bluetooth)

Sony doesn't own MGS.
MGS started on a Microsoft system, went to Nintendo, then to Sony, later getting ported back onto Nintendo/Microsoft hardware, then went back to Sony and decided to make a cameo in a Nintendo centric game.

No, MGS didn't start on a Microsoft system. It started on the original Playstation.

@SisypheanLife The original Metal Gear games started on MSX (Microsoft). The Metal Gear Solid started on the PSX.
The Nintendo games were not made by Kojima Studios.

You're all wrong.

Metal Gear - MSX. This was the first game. The Metal Gear on NES WAS NOT, I repeat, WAS NOT a real MG game. It was a poorly-made port handled outside of Konami/Kojima's hands, and even he says it's terrible compared to the MSX version. The only way to play the real one in English (currently) is if you have MGS3: Subsistence.

I wonder how they will do staff recruitment for the PS3/360 versions of Peace Walker? You had to use wifi hotspots with the psp version.

I already put 130+ hours in the psp version with a buddy. But it will be fun to do it again in HD and with dual analogs.

If you have a 360 you should definitely pick this collection up.

@Steve R I've dropped 200 hours into my psp copy, and other than not wanting to farm for some super rare weapon drops or play some of the five red skull rated vehicle missions I'm ready to jump right back in with some friends.

You assume just because someone owns a 360 they never played these games? It's rather easy to own more than one console. Most Gamers do.

That is not possible and with the fact MS wants that XBL subscription money I doubt it ever will.
Although I would still like to see Major Nelson and Kevin Butler go head-to-head just for the hell of it and maybe throw in Reggie as a referee.

It's more that Microsoft wants a system that they control the security on. Given some fairly recent things going on with PSN, and not to mention how open PCs can be, can you really blame them? Only one game managed to get around this (FFXI) and that was probably because Microsoft really wanted a FF game on their console.

Ok, So I played the other Big Boss game featuring Gene. Totally forget it though.

What was important in that? I remember the terrible Grey Fox retcon of course.

Does Peace Walker feel like a direct sequel to Snake Eater? How does the Co-op work?

I used to be a HUGE HUGE HUGE MGS fan with MGS1,2 and 3. Was a bit let down by 4 by everything except the gameplay.

The 4-player co-op in Peace Walker is only during the boss battles, with other missions limiting it to 2 people. Sooo...not a huge deal, but cool nonetheless.

This is great news. Peace Walker was, to me, a pretty poorly designed game if you played it single player like I did. Boss fights were extremely tedious, because boss' health did not scale to the player count.

As a huge fan of both Metal Gear and Splinter Cell, it really feels like the MGS HD Collection is something they are putting a little effort into while the Splinter Cell HD Collection is just a cash grab. Obviously it's both companies jobs to make money, but there are tons of people who would love to have some online multiplayer from either Pandora Tomorrow or Chaos Theory(both games on the HD Collection) and are getting screwed. Glad MGS fans are getting some multi.

Sweet, this package sounds even better.

Im guessing MGO1 is out. Simply because the 3DS version of MGS3 has it or something of a simular nature.

Plus building my own metal gears bound to keep me occupied until then...

Well now I really don't know which system to buy this for. I was going to buy it for PS3, since I remember reading somewhere you can transfer the PSP save for Peace Walker to PS3. WIth online co-op, though, the majority of people I know play on 360, so I'd almost rather get it for that just to be able to play with them. Has anyone read anything about being able to transfer the save to a 360? (I know, unlikely, but I can hope, right?)

Cool. I never got a chance to play this co-op online. The inability to connect online without the use of ad-hoc party on the ps3 made co-op on the original release of Peace Walker almost completely useless unless you had other friends with PSP's to play with.
