Dead Nation welcomes you back with 'Road of Devastation' DLC
25
Thanks to Sony's post-PSNocalypse "Welcome Back" program, Dead Nation went from being a well-reviewed game (we awarded it a 5/5) to a staple in many PS3 gamer's libraries, with "over 3.8 million" players mowing down "over 11,700,000,000" zombies. So while we're nearly a year past this downloadable shooter's release, there's no better time to announce some DLC.
"Road of Devastation" promises "a variety of new tools and equipment" which you'll need to tackle the "new enemies and obstacles you'll encounter in unique new environments." While that all sounds like the usual DLC fare, developer Housemarque teases that Road of Devastation will continue where the original left off ("or, is it actually the other way around ...") -- you wake up in a lab as a product of genetic modification to create the ultimate soldier. Outside the lab you find "a crossroads leading to three different paths, each with their own unique environments, challenges and enemies waiting for you." Only after all that will you "make a startling revelation ..."
We'll be honest, all these elipses have us unsettled. What does it all mean? Is this a prequel in which we discover that humanity's been the cause of the zombie outbreak this whole time? Actually, yeah ... we're pretty sure that's what it is.

Is there a release date or price for this? We really enjoyed Dead Nation on co-op, and I would enjoy going back to it for some more.

i hope it's co-op.
also, it can't be a prequel if it starts where the last one left off.

This game gets stupid hard even on regular difficulty once you hit about the 6th or 7th level.

Yeah, many later levels go from "Hard" to "F*** You" after the second checkpoint on Grim difficulty and above. Flares, grenades, and a fully upgraded Blade Cannon and Launcher were my best friends on those harder difficulty settings.

@gordogg24p Well they do include an easier setting if you need one. I finished a playthrough on Morbid and thought that was a nice setting for a solo play. Co-op all depends on who you're with. Some people tend to forget they have all sorts of weapons they can throw to destroy a ton of zombies at once.

I wonder how many people, like myself, downloaded it for the Welcome Back promo and haven't even played it yet.

I bought it when it was released but I don't think I've played it yet. Along with R&C: Quest for Booty, and BG&E...
And those are just PSN games.

I bought it at retail, to support the title after the awesome reviews, but I still haven't gotten around to really playing it. -_-

Not a bad idea to release some free games to promote the platform, eh Sony? *Nudge nudge wink wink*

SONY Please add a brightness DLC, can't see a damn thing
Posted: Sep 6th 2011 2:25PM davebo said
@Trilancer You can adjust brightness in the settings, although I would prefer shooting zombies in the daylight.
I can't think of another game I got so many hours of play from for $0. The closest I've come is Just Cause 2 and Borderlands on Steam for $7. Co-op isa lot of fun and I'll be getting this DLC for sure.

I tried, I think some TVs can't deal with that contrast. Its the GBA all over again.
And the most value I got from a game is Super Street Fighter 4, I logged over 400 hours on that game. Thats why Capcorn hates me.
No AE DLC until its $10 or less on the EU store
