The shadow war won't be fought by governments, it will be fought by game companies :S

These people, arucious, they're like ghosts. Always in the shadows, always hiding behind lies and proxy soldiers.

They cannot stop us. They cannot stop the future.

No, it's going to be fought by proxy soldiers.

I still don't know what the hell that means whilst playing Deus Ex: HR and MGS4 before that. -_-

Perhaps he will introduce a 30 second lockdown after failed hack attempt, like in Deus Ex. That should scare those hackers away!

Fun fact:

Prior to joining DHS, Mr. Reitinger was the Chief Trustworthy Infrastructure Strategist at Microsoft Corporation.

Me thinks Sony is gaining something more here.

Don't worry, Sony will start a policy where they'll confiscate all the toothpaste of incoming packets and force your credit card information through the PornScanner 5000.

@LaughingTarget More likely they'll have a kill switch that bricks everybody's PS3 when PSN gets hacked.

They don't need more management, just have their engineers take some remedial network security courses at the local community college. They can learn things like, don't store passwords in plain text, don't leave your private keys lying about, storing credit card numbers is the job of the payment processor, etc.

@Raffi256

Why do so many people assume the passwords were stored in plain text?
They said themselves it was protected with hash encryption.

Awesome. Maybe the PSN dashboard can be updated with various color codes determining threat level. If you boot up and the XMB is colored orange, you may want to be cautious with your online transactions. If you see code Purple, shut that shit down, unplug your router, and duct-tape your windows!
