Rather have it on Verizon. Pay more, but get way better service

@Doctor Who
For real, this is a HUGE slap in the face to us Verizon customers, I'm incredibly pissed off about this....It's half-price, too.....
=/

Dick move by Sony.

Carriers subsidize the price & it usually depends on how much they gouge you with the monthly bill.

You would think they'd pick some specs better than a two year old phone. Kind of a waste.

Yeah... I have an Xperia x10 and was considering an upgrade, but I use my phone's camera too much to bump down from 8.1 to 5MP. :P

Pretty sweet deal... still waiting for Sprint, but I'm sure that'll never happen.

Anyone know how compatible all the buttons are with regular old Android games? Like Dungeon Hunter?

@Xoonaka

I think the games have to be patched for it. One I can think of off-hand that DID get a Play compatibility patch is 'Pocket Legends'.

I got my Xperia Play back when it was 199$ through Verizon. While it is a nice device I am disappointed that it was so stripped down from the European offering with only that abortion of a game launcher menu. And still no word of the update Europe received either. Nor info on the Playstation Suite.

As it stands all this is good for talking and a superior Atari to N64/PS1 emulator experience.

Rocking the Metro UI on it as well makes using the device much more enjoyable.

This thing is DOA, with the PS VITA and reduced price of 3DO, it will have the same faith as Ngage.

About time they drop the price on the 3DO, I say. It only has two killer apps, and both of them are Plumbers Don't Wear Ties.

@Smithsmithers

I heard it comes with exclusive sound effects that play after dropped calls. I've heard that when you end a call intentionally it plays the Final Fantasy victory song.

I love the idea of xperia play, but they botched the fact that it's not compatible with 100% of ps1/psp games. They are slowly rolling out games nobody wants. There should be a fully working psn store on this with access to everything just like the psp. bummed.

Wow, what a nice line-up of games. Not. They also managed to screw over all the Verizon Xperia Play owners whilst they were at it. Oh well, at least AT&T don't have Tetris, so they still fail.

'The Xperia Play will cost $49.99 with a new two-year agreement through AT&T, which is drastically less than Verizon's initial offer of $199.99 with the same agreement. '

it seems strange that two different companies have the exact same contract agreement.

I have the Xperia Play on Verizon. I was a Verizon IPhone holdout, I hat the IPhone 4 for a while after getting it on Verizon launch day, didn't like it, sold it and got the Xperia Play. The AT&T exclusivity has turned me against the Playstation Vita/PSP2. I'll stick with my 3DS, PSP, and Xperia Play.

I bought my Xperia Play yesterday at Best Buy, and got a contract with Verizon. My phone came preloaded with Tetris, The Sims 3, Madden NFL 2011, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, and Asphalt 6. Although I'm enjoying using the PS1 and N64 emulators on the phones gamepad, more than the legitimate games from the Android Market.
