So, we donate to charity by playing on XBL? Sounds good to me.

I honestly can't see my friends and family being too hot on paying money for me to play video games. I think they'd rather give money to charity for me to *not* play video games all weekend.

Get friends and family to give you money (for charity) for every hour you spend playing video games?

Good on paper, terrible in practice.

@Exu

If only that game was ET. . .

Then it'd be worth while to do it.

Why not just save people the hassle and give money anyway?
I mean, if we're giving all the money, then why is it your name on the promotion microsoft?

@arucious
People who want to donate to charity are still more than welcome to do so. This is no different than Walkathons, bowlathons, etc etc etc athons that are held all the time & organized by various organizations. MS's name is on it because they're organizing it, hosting it and organizing events and deals surrounding it.
Hating on a company doing something to raise awareness of a charity & attempting to get people involved by making donating fun and interesting for them is pretty counter productive.

Yeah, exactly. It sounds to me like everyone is donating money EXCEPT microsoft.

@mietha

Maybe they already did and didn't mention it, or maybe they are going to later on?

They did that with good timing(probably intentional) since DI, and WAR:40k came out recently, and GoW3 coming out 9/20 probably be a good chance for people to turn their gamathons into a good cause.

Had to share... Comment, likely from a grandmother, on the info page:
"I THINK THIS IS VERY NICE KRIS. BUT I DO NOT PLAY ON X=BOX.GOOD LUCK.....SAY HELLO TO FAMILY."

The hardest part about this fundraiser may well be making certain family members understand what you're asking of them.

I think the spirit is nice, but how many kids are gonna get their parents to give them money to play video games? I think if the event was about depriving yourself, kinda like that famine relief one, it may be more effective.

I am totally doing this. I have given something like every two weeks for coworkers selling stuff for kids or getting donations for something. I've never asked for anything in return plus it will be hilarious when I ask for donations for each hour I play games.
