Civilization 5 GOTY edition announced, available Sept. 27

2K Games announced today that a "Game of the Year Edition" for Civilization 5 will enter the annals of retail history on September 27. The $50 bundle includes the core game, soundtrack and previously released add-on content that was sold to Civ addicts for between $5 and $10 a hit.

Civilization 5, as expected, was one of the best strategy games of the past year. The GOTY edition also includes all the mega-patches the game received since its launch a year ago. We've listed the included DLC for the GOTY bundle after the break.

Civilization and Scenario Pack: The Mongols
Civilization Pack: Babylon
Cradle of Civilization Map Packs: Mesopotamia, Americas, Asia and Mediterranean

Civ V on Steam last weekend £7.50 - Ben Wins

Whoa, and I was tempted to pick up the game over the weekend for $12.50 on Steam. Here's hoping next summer's sale has this version for the same price!

love this game, but it loses its luster a bit too quickly.

Everyone tells me that V is good, but that IV is significantly better.

I don't know how true that is, but I hear it a lot.

When IV came out everyone said that it was great but III was a lot better. It's just people who aren't used to the change and prefer the older game.

Only crazy people thought III was better. III was a pile of crap that poorly implemented new ideas like strategic resources and cultural borders so they overwhelmed the rest of the game.

A lot like Civ V actually.

vanilla IV wasn't that great, but Civ IV:BTS +RoM Mod beats Civ V by a lightyear (even though Civ V got a lot better since launch, and thanks to the great Mod Support, it will only get better in the years to come)

Anyone else disappointed that there are no signs of expansion packs to enhance the game, just overpriced civs and maps DLC?

Why wasn't Korea listed? Either way, until Rhye's and Fall comes out, I have no reason to play this game. It's sort of boring with just the mods that are out now. I want revolutions!

they're missing some content. steam doesn't list a mongols pack, but instead a korea pack.

and unless it's included in the "mongol" pack, they're also missing the wonders of the ancient world pack.

The Mongols pack might be missing from the list because it's free DLC already so it's not like it's some extra bonus since everyone already got it free.

It looks like the Mongol Pack is in, just not listed on Joystiq's list. Kotaku's complete list mentions the Mongol Pack and Explorer's Pack. http://kotaku.com/5840088/civilization-v-game-of-the-year-edition-hits-sept-27

Anyone thinking of picking this up- visit the civ 5 forums and skim over the topics from release onwards. This game had(and still has) so many problems it's not even funny. The AI, despite all the patches, has gone from "Would you kindly destroy my civ, oh thank you!" to "We will destroy you because you have slightly less swordsmen than us, and that's not alright!".

Suffice to say the game hasn't been as well received by the fans as by the critics.

I feel sorry for Civ V, it knows it will never have an expansion as good as Beyond the Sword.

most worthless broken multiplayer in a game ever. Go look that up in their forums too; tons of people have been complaining for a long time. I bought this on steam during the sale, along with one of my bro's. Were looking forward to multiplayer, but unfortunately: T'is broken :(

Good thing the single player experience is addictive enough to make up for it a little.....but had I bought this full price I would have been REALLY pissed.

We've had this in New Zealand for a while. Why does America get it so late?
