LucasArts hiring for FPS, aerial combat, action/adventure games

On top of last month's outed job listing for an open-world RPG, LucasArts is now hiring for a first-person shooter, an aerial combat game and an action/adventure game. GameSpot noticed the listings, which call for a level designer for a FPS title, a senior gameplay engineer for the aerial combat game and a producer for an action/adventure title. LucasArts sure seems busy these days!

The aerial combat game seems like a no-brainer -- LucasArts has a stable of Star Wars aerial combat games it could pull from, so that's our guess considering the position emphasizes a familiarity with "space-based shooters." The other two require even more speculation ... and we certainly wouldn't mind seeing another Republic Commando game.

You want a no-brainer? How about hiring somebody to port all the SCUMM back-catalog to iOS, Android, and WP7? Maniac Mansion+iPad=Profit.

The only way this could be cool is with two games: X-Wing.......or Tie Fighter........i can´t believe lucas has two blank checks that they don´t want to cash in......

you forgot X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. but the fact that they are hiring for an aerial combat game, one could hope for a remake of these classics. fingers crossed.

It´s incredible to see the HUGE amount of amazing games that Lucas had in the gold years that had NOTHING to do with star wars, and all of them were awesome, and when they finally created some star wars games they were incredible too. but since the crazy "star wars only" mode that Lucas entered for so many years we can only wonder when they are going to wake up.......hope this means that somebody at Lucas finally sees the light.

They have made some SW games, they're just forgettable. Remember Fracture? How about RLH: Run Like Hell? I think RLH is the one that had a land shark gun and a gun that screwed you to the ground and flipped gravity so enemies fell into the sky and then slammed into the ground when gravity reverted. Plus they made the first Mercenaries, though why they skipped out on the sequel I have no idea. And didn't they do a new WW2 flight sim a few years ago?

Point is they did a few non-SW games, but they were forgettable. Fracture and RLH were high-concept, boring execution.

I think you're thinking of Armed & Dangerous, which had a handful of comical weapons. But it is a LucasArts title at least, so you deserve some credit.

Oh, just crossed my mind before posting: They published RTX Red Rock; I'm pretty sure they had nothing to do with RLH. Similar acronyms at least. Here, a little more credit for trying at least.

LucasArts published Mercs 1 which was made by Pandemic.
Mercs 1 was a great game.

i thought it was tie-fighter anyway i would LOVE to see a reboot of that game (whether it be tie-fighter or x-wing) that game was awesome

Battlefront 1 was released on the same day as the Star Wars Trilogy DVD.
Battlefront 2 was released on the same day as the Revenge of the Sith DVD
Battlefront 3 game announcement will be on Friday to coincide with the Star Wars Blu-ray release?

Thats what Amazon & Best Buy have.

Anyway I'd love to see a HD remake of Battlefront 1 or Battlefront 3 sometime soon.

How was Republic Commando? Just started really getting into Star Wars (the originals) so I was wondering what good games there were aside from KOTOR, unless that 's the best one...

I second this recommendation. Also, X-wing vs Tie Fighter and Shadows of the Empire.

If they make another Republic Commando game before a new Jedi Knight I will cut them.

Jedi Knight was one of the best FPS series ever and even to this day is the only game to have good sword gameplay. Republic Commando is an example of how far Lucasarts has fallen.

Aerial Combat - Please be another Tie Fighter/X-Wing game! Fans have been begging for a reboot of this series forever.

Seriously, at least port the games over to like Xbox Live Arcade or something!

I really want to believe that great games can come out of LucasArts again. But with how incompetently it has been ran over the last few years, I'm not getting excited until a game has been released.

I'm hoping for something like X-Wing and Tie Fighter, but suspect it will be something closer to Rogue Squadron.

I'd love to see some more games based on the post-movie extended universe. Mara has plenty of history left to explore. Or go further ahead and have a game staring Jaina. KotOR was fun, but I'm ready to go back to the future.
