I wonder how long it'll take for someone to hook up some arcade hardware or a custom PC or Ps3 or something into that case so it'll have a disk-drive in the front (or just installed to internal HDD) and HDMI output on the back for instant plug-and-fight portability with any HDTV you could find. Sounds awesome!

@Foetoid

I'd be happy just with official PC drivers for it.

It's a corded Xbox 360 controller... if you have a USB then you can use this and any game that supports a controller input this can be used. Microsoft did that for you awhile ago I think Vista was when this was added.

True, but some Xbox gear doesn't play nice with the default drivers, particularly some older dance pads. Moreover, there's no official Mac drivers (not as important, but would be nice to have). I'm just sayin', maybe it would be easier to make PC/Mac drivers based on the PS3 version.

We truly need 1-2 more companies exactly like Razer. This will bring up some real competition and thus lower prices. I think that many times Razer's products are overpriced.

That stick is really great. Especially if you have experience on arcades. But I won't dare to ask the price.

@EuroScept1C

I personally really want a Qanba Q3 but they're impossible to come by.

Or here's another idea- why won't anybody release a stick with a 6 button layout for once?? As for this Razer stick vs the madcatz, MC wins simply because they are using the viewlix button layout which is by far the most comfortable and practical

@(Unverified) Because it takes like 10 minutes to add plugs and pop out the extra buttons anyway and you don't void your warranty in doing so. (on a TE at least, haven't messed with any HORI sticks yet)

Plus, there may be something that requires that every button be available on a controller if it's officially sanctioned by MS and Sony.

Razer can pull anything off....Except that absurdly overpriced laptop. Should be more like $800-1000 if they truly want to innovate since that's the performance value you're getting out of it. Lol.

This product looks pretty sweet though.

Razer makes some good stuff. I have one of their gaming mice-- don't remember the model, but it's the one with the number pad on the thumb side-- and it's a brilliant piece of tech. Before that I had one that they did in collaboration with Microsoft, and the only reason I ditched that is because it didn't provide Mac drivers when I made the switch. It still works perfectly, and I bought it at least five years ago now. Like EuroScept1C said, though, the cost is a little high, but that's largely a factor of the economy being in the toilet and falling demand for luxury-class computing equipment (which, let's be honest, Razer's stuff is-- I get by just as well on my work machines with a $15 Logitech trackball).

Why?

MadCatz already has sticks that are built with parts used in the actual arcade units.

No one was clamoring for another version :P If they were, Hori has that covered anyway.

The picture looks like an exact clone of the madkatz stick, and the madkatz sticks are basically just arcade parts with USB.

I'm not really sure how you'd improve upon that, unless you offer an easy way to mod the artwork or something.

If it is going to be pricey, then it'll have to be better than a Viewlix. I didn't balk at the MadCatz TE stick, just the SE version. Hori also makes a good stick. They'll have to prove their parts are just as good, or better, than standard arcade parts.

Why don't they ever make controllers with the teardrop shaped stick instead of the ball one? I dun like using the ball shaped stick - it's threatening to my heterosexuality.

You can always just buy the other kind of stick (usually called a "bat" type) and replace it.

Doesn't seem like they could do anything that would make it more appealing than a TE, especially considering that this doesn't seem to look like it has any easy way to do switchable art like a TE with plexi.

So you're wanting the lollipop one to be replaced with a big knob because the other one is somehow threatening to your sexuality? Think about that.

If I had to guess which pro arcade fighter they were talking to I'd have to say marn. That x sure is in a great default position for Zero on MvC3 haha.

I'm really with a few others here. I don't see the point unless you're buying it purely for the aesthetics or some kind of Monster Cable-esque notion of prestige. "Luxury" performance is already taken care of by Madcatz and Hori (and if you're willing to mod, you can come away with an arcade-perfect stick for around $30-40). You're simply not going to do better than that. Period.

Options are always a good thing, but the more I think about it, this will likely end up being the "Monster Cable" of sticks. It'll be just as good as any others but'll sell simply from the illusion of being the best.

"its most Japan-focused product"?

Seeing as its not a stick for the PS3 or Wii, I would have to disagree.

Why not label the buttons so you can re-arrange the button layout and it still make sense..
