Regardless the true origin of the word "transfar," I like to believe it's a typo that they just never bothered to change and refused to admit as a mistake.

@FlashJS The phrase is as japanese as Kojima is, It's Transfer and Far as in the distance from home with a PSP. Whether it was a mistake or not is moot because it makes sense to the way the Japanese create new combo slang words.

No way, that's gotta be a mistake.

Kojima wouldn't get Mega64 to advertise this if we weren't getting it at all.

@SolidSnakeEyes - It's there, but in super ulta small print:

"TRANSFARRING (save data sharing) compatible with PSP version*

*Japanese PS3 version only."

Why it says "PSP version" and not Vita is beyond me.

There's an asterisk after the transfarring entry.

@Acosta02 You're right. I still think they're intending to say that only Japanese Peacewalker HD comes with the PSP product code, but they could have been clearer about it.

Well, I guess I'll be getting the collection on 360 and for the Vita if they decide to release it here in the States.

@jbs1018 Fair enough, but you can't transfarr between the 360 and Vita either ;).

It's not a typo, it is clearly positioned next to the "PSP product code included" which we already know is Japan only.

The more important question should be: is the online play through Konami's annoying online system?

Well, wait a minute... MGS: Peace walker HD is a Japan only stand alone title anyway. In North America, we are getting Peace Walker HD as part of the MGS COLLECTION, so this might be irrelevant since the COLLECTION version might/should have transfarring to PSP.

Honestly I'm quite surprised as to how well these HD versions (that are somehow considered remakes by the majority) are doing. My question is why would people buy them. I could understand if you...missed the game back in your PS2 days, or you never wanted to buy a PSP...but other than those reasons...why would you get these "HD" games?

The only thing that's minutely different is the lighting. It's HARDLY ANY HD at all. The TRANSFARRING thing to me was a gimmick that actually would have worked and it let me say, "Oh well...it's not so bad"...but it seems there isn't even that.

I'll get the HD collection for the VITA...since it's portable and I can carry the game anywhere which is a +. But other than that all these companies making these HD collections are getting on my nerves. It's a smart business strategy...but if this truly caters to fans it's no wonder developer's are getting lazy.

/End rant

I would get it cause I know the game is great, all bugs (most bugs) have been resolved, I am getting HD version of the game, and it only cost me $19.99 for one game or $39.99 for 2 and sometimes 3 games.

Also if I could play some of those games on PS Vita that would be just great. I think nobody is loosing here, people have more choices and SONY has more games to offer.

The HD craze for these games are helped by the fact that higher resolution and smoother frame rates are nicer to look at. Now I agree in the sense that buying a game twice is frankly dumb but sometimes people find value in the upgrades (which by the way lighting wont be one, it's the same game, same engine just running on different hardware) which is great for the developers because they really dont have to spend a lot of money developing something to get people to repurchase the game other than make it look pretty on the new TVs. something that even upscaling backwards compatibility cant do. This unfortunately may have an effect on future BC but for now developers see this as a gret opportunity since the majority of the systems out there now CANT play the old games the way people would like them to.

I mean, I'll get this because I've only played one of the games in it (not counting PW on the PSP *shudders* but I really am getting sick of these hd remakes

I love these HD remakes.

Why you might ask?
1. Easily obtainable. I don't have to sift through gamestop bins to try to find used copies of classic games and then dig through my closet to find the old system and hope it still works. You get the old games for cheaper, it's almost just like another print run for a book.
2. Obviously the HD. Many times I'm turned off by games in the PS1-PS2 days because of their bad quality 3D graphics. I can easily play SNES games because they aren't meant to be so "lifelike" but when a PS2 games tries to show high-end graphics of the time, I can't enjoy it as much because it clearly doesn't look real. Whereas on the PS3 and 360, graphics are nice to look at and smooth
3. Trophies / achievements. I like trying to get all of them.

My advice?
- If you already played the game in earlier day and don't have any intention of replaying it, then don't buy it!
- Even if a game sold 10 million copies 5-10 years ago, the majority of gamers today haven't played it (and much less beaten it). If you, like most people, missed the game and want it, go buy it.
- If you played the game already, and want to replay it with the added HD, then buy it.
If you want it get it, if you don't, then don't! It's as simple as that.

So for people like me who missed great collections like GoW 1 and 2, MGS, ICO, Splinter Cell, and other big collections coming out, please don't bash it and hate the developers. It really isn't costing them too much time either. This is essentially just another print run to get more people into the game. I would never have played GoW 1/2 or 3 if GoW collections wasn't released.

No way.
Revealed (pre-)E3 by Mega64 for western audiences, I highly doubt that they would now make it Japan only.
Kojima wouldn't do that

It might be because they're actually making the HD collection for the Vita aswell. Why Transfar to the PSP version when you can Transfar to the Vita version...

On the other Hand I just had a thought: that this could be due to that Stipulation that MS is forcing on publishers where they have to have to have the SAME content on the disk as the PS3 before they can be released on the 360 in the US. I really think they may have forced this if it's true.

Oh. Well, I guess I'll be buying the 360 version then as the Transfarring feature was the only selling point for me on PS3... I only know 3 friends that have a PS3 while my friends list on Live is over 9000.(that was an exaggeration :p) 360 version means I'll have more friends to play Peace Walker's co-op with.

they can keep their fancy "Trans-Farring"

tell them to make a PSVita game instead of porting a PSP game.

I'm wandering if the asterisk is so people don't think they can use transfarring between 360 & PSP. Which yeah, you might think people aren't that stupid. But, trust me there are some completely brain dead people out there. Just a thought

Eh, no biggie for me. I don't own Peace Walker on the PSP, anyway. Lookin' forward to this collection, though, especially with the PS3 incentive of MGS off PSN for free, to boot. :)

Forgive my ignorance but as a Japanese poster for the japanese game, could it be that it means transfarring only works between the Japanese versions?
being as the consoles are both region free, this might be so people don't try to transfar there US/Euro Peacewalker saves to an imported peacewalker copy and throw up there arms and shout "OMG ITS BROKEN! DO NOT WANT! GIEF REFUND!" when it doesn't work.
