I still say #4 by Matthew Lindley is my favorite. It's brilliant in its subtlety, and that light blue-green is one of my favorite shirt colors!

Too simple. Its a nice logo, but its hardly more than a redesign for joystiq. Too hipster if that makes sense? Who cares about 2004? Since when has joystiq been about baby blue?

I really dig this version. I made #118 from the original version and I would have picked this one even if I didn't enter. It's definitely a shirt I would wear whether I was into games or not.

I can't help but feel like #1 is a T Shirt design made about videogames by someone who never, ever plays any videogames. Octopus? Rocket ship? Stereotypical ninja? Happy stars and blobs with faces? I don't understand how any of these really represent what joystiq stands for. It's a nice design... but the art style is really cartoony. I think there's a helluva lot more sophistication to gamers nowadays than that shirt seems to represent. I don't know if I'd wear it :/

I actually like that it doesn't reference specific games. Only representations of genres.

Racing, zombie apocalypse, basketball/sports, skateboarding, old school RPGs, adventure games, dungeon crawlers, action games, space marine/alien invasion related games, space exploration/space combat, Japanese games...

It also features a fairly direct nod to all the current major console makers.

Or it could be, you know, sci fi genre? Why the hell do you feel so strongly about this and attack anyone who likes that shirt? It's a good design.

Hey man... no one was attacked. I was just saying what I thought about the shirt. Its a good design. I just got that vibe from it, like I'd find it in the T shirt section at Kohls. Like some talented designer that knows nothing about games drew it.

@The Nasty Nick I've gotta agree with Heisenberg here. #1's design is a good one. I'd even go so far as to say that its my favorite. Stop your blind hate, please. The creator may have some friends who aren't Joystiq-regulars and want to support the design. That doesn't mean that he's trying to be a con-artist. Heck, they may be joystiq regulars who didn't want to start commenting because of people like you who take such an unwarrantedly strong stances on things and verbally attacks people. And before you try to attack me, no, I'm not affiliated with the designer.

#1 has just the right amount detail, without being too complex, which is what you want in a T-shirt. It also makes amazing use of the logo.
#3 is also cool in a schematic kind of way; it could be the diagram in a controller manufacturing handbook.
#6 takes me back to A Link to the past, which is always a good thing!

Without voting for my own I love 6 the barbarian sword, i like 3 the controller breakdown, and the graphics timeline of 2 is a really clever idea.
Happy to be part of the bunch!

Is there a reason this is hidden from Joystiq's main feed?

No. 1 is my favorite for sure. I like that it's a design that you can kind of explore, and maybe not notice everything that's going on the first time you look at it. Complex, brilliant, awesome.

Number 3 is my second choice. Very will done.

So, in addition to this being your first comment on Joystiq, you make it right under a reply asking "I'm guessing Matt Chinface put you up to this?", where your login name is "a chin worth"? Very subtle, Mr. Subtle McSubtleton from Subtletown.

The first (#1) shirt is the best. You can tell it was designed with care, and not just several layers on someone's pirated copy of photoshop or illustrator.

Here are my thoughts on the shirts in numerical order:

1) This shirt is clearly the best. It is simple, yet full of creativity. It really showcases the nature of not only Joystiq, but gaming as well. I like this because it clearly focuses on the Joystiq logo, but upon closer looks really gives the view an eyeful. Probably something for everyone in this logo. This is the obvious choice and the only shirt I'll be purchasing.

2) I hate this shirt. It makes no sense, if the graphics of the logo are improving with each generations controller, then why aren't the graphics of the controllers improving as well. A major oversight that will likely be caught by a knowing eye. Skip it.

3) This is not bad, but a little obvious and a little busy for my taste. Also, I find the Joystiq logo to be a little muddled. Pbbbbbtttt.

4) This shirt is lame. What about it clearly relates to the gaming culture? It's nothing by a simple rebranding. A definite miss.

5) Too many of the symbols in this shirt are unclear or not uniform. This is the kind of mish-mahsing that is often mistaken for creativity. This shirt is likely to be recognized by "nerds" only and does not apply enough focus to the Joystiq logo.

6) This shirt has a nice feel, but does not encompass all that gaming has to offer, relying to heavily on fantasy/adventure.

I like the second one, but i agree with another commenter that it's weird that the controller images didn't become clearer as well. My favorite is the first one with the logo in orange and images coming out of the logo. Great design.

i like #1 best because it is both simple and complex at the same time to be on a t-shirt. from the far, you can tell it says "joystiq" but if you look closer you can see all kinds of video game environments and characters on it.

#1 is my favorite! Very creative design with the game characters climbing in and out of the recessed letters. Just enough detail, but not too busy.

#2 is clever. I like how it shows the progression while the pixels become smaller and smaller.

#3 has taken a lot of thought. A little busy for me.

#4 is short and sweet but a bit simple

#5 & 6 don't do too much for me personally

It's an interesting design imo. It's got a nostalgic retro vibe going on; it's remarkably simple and easy on the eyes. Just because it's simple doesn't mean it's not good.

#1 is easily the classiest of the bunch. I would sport that shirt proudly anywhere! I also like the simplicity of #4.

The others are pretty good designs too, but I think there's a little too much going on for my taste. I think they'd make great posters, though!
