No 3DS - no purchase. DS games just don't look good enough on my 3DS screen :)

I agree. I just got a 3DS and would love, LOVE this game to be a full-on 3DS game. Even if the 3D was just some depth in the background and acid splatters squirting on the Z axis, it'd be a bit more 'immersive' and fun I think.
I still have DS Lite, so I'll pick it up regardless. I'll be honest though.. I'd really like to see this on iOS, as-is. *ducks*

LOL - I get downvoted and the guy who disagreed with me got downvoted.
Looks like Joystiq readers are truly divided on the 3DS.
I love my 3DS and want more content on it - so why would I support the previous DS format? It's ashame Nintendo didn't make the 3DS emulate DS games perfectly - unfortunately they look terrible and some don't work well at all (Phantom Hourglass comes to mind).

Honestly, I downvoted because I think playing DS games on a 3DS isn't as bad as people make it up to be.
It's as if the game looks horrible and unplayable by the groans people make... I still play my DS games on my 3DS, all of them, and none of them are gawdawful as people make it out to be.
It definitely WOULD'VE BEEN NICE if it was also a 3DS release- but fact is, we wouldn't be missing out on much (unless they added extra levels due to how much more they could fit). So a DS release is better than no release whatsoever, or a crappy 3DS port with only pop-out-2D-3D-graphics and no extra content for extra $$ (and DS game prices definitely will drop in prices faster than a 3DS game).

This looks like a ton of fun. Few people do the retro side-scroller as well as WayForward. Their THOR game was the only decent spinoff from the film, and I'm dying to see their take on the Metroidvainia formula. If anyone can finally give the Aliens property its due, it's this studio.

This could turn out to be a fantastic game, but...
...after having played 3 fantastic Castlevania games on the DS, I can't help but think that the art in this game is a bit of a let down. The marine's movement looks unnatural, the animation in general just doesn't have the same wonderful quality as the Castlevania games, and the colouring seems a little uninspired. A little too retro...
I'll reserve final judgment till I've played the game though. (And I'll toss my DS through a wall if the game is on a Contra toughness scale).

Or in other words, "Metroid."
Not that that's at all a bad thing.

This looks nowhere near as good as the Castlevania titles on the DS.

This is Lame WTF? Why can't they release a 3DS version along side the ds or at the very least develop a 3ds version?
