Good review. Looking forward to trying the trial, which is downloading now.

Also, thank you for adding that blip about your reviews. Maybe now some of these people will quit bitching about your scores.

Burnout Paradise is THE greatest racing games of all time (...i don't wanna hear it gearheads, I'm sorry...i love forza, i loved GT, BUT....no game was more polished nor innovative head to toe menu to multiplayer and offered a more satisfiyingly deep single-player experience than Criterion and Burnout Paradise.....not polyphony, not turn 10.....you can only race Nurburgring so many times mane).

I'm shocked to see a low score on this one...but not really...they released it to arcade and psn, so i think this was moreso an experiment for them.

3 is average, not "low." Stop using goddamned standardized testing scores as a method of reviewing games.

@NOVAtr1be Also, it's not "3 stars", it's "It's a game you should play? Maybe, but only if you like this type of game and are able to forgive some problems."

@NOVAtr1be there was only one thing I didn't like about the Burnout Paradise and that's the soundtrack integration. Songs would always play regardless of what you're doing, and there were no sound alters when crashing which I missed. But the game itself is just amazing, so much replay value, with great DLC.

@GuitarHero666 Paradise was utter crap.....Now if you had said Revenge....

As for this game, bring back the real crash mode, i'll probably play the demo when its released (checked a few times guess its not in my region yet.) but i certainly won't be buying it looking at the view and gfx.

Exactly, Revenge was great but paradise just tried to turn the burnout series into Forza, its called burnout for a reason, not "Generic Racing Game: 4"

@Midnitte

Because Forza's an open world game about crashing and stunts? Wut?

The changes Burnout experienced in Paradise have nothing to do with sims like Forza and GT and everything to do with the open-world-game trend of the time. That trend has passed.

It's just a shame that Criterion are neck deep in Need for Speed. I'd like to see a return to the Burnout: Revenge form with an updated take on the real Crash Mode.

Am I the only one that seems a little apprehensive about this title? I loved the crash on burnout. But this top down graphics engine does not entice me.

I'll certainly try the trial, but I'm unsure.

@KillerC - If you went into Paradise expecting Burnout: Revenge 2, I can see how it may have disappointed you but Burnout: Paradise was FAR, FAR from crap.

If you had adjusted your expectations appropriately, Paradise was a fantastic game.

However, the actual correct answer to best racing game of all time is neither Burnout: Revenge or Burnout: Paradise...

It's Burnout 3: Takedown.

I hope you're not serious. Burnout 3 was easily the weakest entry in the series.

@WiredKnight I'd assume he was, since I agree with him. I loved Burnout Paradise and Takedown was fun, but 3 was the peak, IMHO. In general, most reviews agree:

If I'm reading this right, then the main mode in this game is essentially tower defense with cars?

What will they think of next?

I was underwhelmed when they last showed a video of gameplay. Unless it's changed, I can't imagine I'll be interested in this one. What get's me is that they have a solid concept. People want crash mode. For some reason they give us crash mode lite alternate version #x

I keep on dreaming of a follow up to Burnout Paradise.. I guess ill have to keep on dreaming sins EA wants to turn Need for Speed in to a burnout like game... And it will never be! EA let Criterion lose and let them create the next best racing game ever.

If you buy this game you're only encouraging them. Criterion needs to get back to what made them great. Revenge!

The trial is pretty much a joke. You get to play 1 crash intersection. No other gamemodes, nothing!
