I only get to play games about an hour a week. this is good for me. I just don't have a desire to be good at a game

@eat it

Maybe you should look into a different hobby then? Why even bother playing games if you only have one hour to play a week?

@theBrayn

I only play an hour or so a week because I have other hobbies.

How does it become your job to decide how other people enjoy their hobbies? We're not all signing up for a religion so we don't have to swallow a bunch of rules made up by narrow-minded pricks desperate to exert control. Grow up, kid, it's not all about you.

Whatever happened to the days when you played a game because you enjoyed the gameplay, not because you were concerned with the protagonist's scarred childhood or how badass you could prove you are with a D-pad and some buttons?

To me, genius games are ones that you can okay all the way through with some skill, but the truly skilled/hardcore can play at an entirely different level.

In the old days, the difference between an average gamer and a highly skilled player was score, not finishing the game. I guess achievements and trophies could be considered the modern-day equivalent.

Perhaps we're focusing our attention at the wrong things?

Are you serious? Back in the day games like SMB, Double Dragon, Contra, Sonic, etc. had one difficulty setting. They were incredibly challenging and the fun was trying to constantly improve your skills to get just a little bit further in the game. There are games from back when I was a child that I was never able to beat because they were so difficult but that didn't stop me from playing them over and over again.

@StrangeDNA

In the old days, most people simply never beat the game if it was too hard.

I never beat Metroid or Super Mario World 3....

I noticed that when picking difficulty for Deus Ex, it's one of the few games that doesn't make fun of you choosing easy. It says something like "a good experience for those who just want to enjoy the story" or something along those lines.

Myself, I really enjoy gaming on higher difficulty levels, but I can also respect those that just want a casual experience who want to enjoy the story. Besides, if those more casual gamers finance games we like, more power to them!

The team surely knows the series has quite an hardcore fan base. Fine to add an 'easy' mode, as long as what the fans want is still there.

They can keep their bad camera system and poop saves.

I'll take Bayonetta, which also had a 1 button easy mode that no one seemed to complain about, any day.

I will not buy this game, everything I've seen about it, just tells me it's crap, which is unfortunate, since I enjoy the crap out of Gaiden. Pretty much one weapon, no shop, and apparently 2 enemy types: machine bosses and human fodder.

And yes, I get it, I don't have to play hero mode, but what's normal gonna be like? or hard? or Master Ninja? Seems like NG is getting easier and easier with each generation. The point of playing NG is because of the challenge it brings. If you can't beat it on normal, tough, don't play the game, or play till you get better. But if you're alienating your main fan base for a potential modest increase in sales, shit's probably gonna back fire. Maybe normal will be as hard or harder than in previous titles, but I just don't see it happening. I already have to deal with enemies that give up when I use ninpo, what's next?

This is actually the first good bit of news I've heard about this game since its announcement. Now... if only that bit about only having one weapon the whole game would prove false. Anyone? :(

I dont see why this is a big deal, you can still play it with the usual "you wont beat this game" setting. NG 1 and 2 are the only two games I still havent beaten and when I go back to it I still get insanely frustrated and stop after an hour or two. That said, I would still prefer to play it on the regular mode since thats the whole point of this game
