@343 Guilty Fart

I'm planning on playing Gears too, but I always have time to make another run through RE4. It's still one of the best games of all time.

I'll have time to run through RE4 again. After Gears3.

RE4 can go sit in the corner since I've already played him at least 12 times through on 3 different systems.

It's a surgical procedure, named the snort3000™. It opens a third nasal cavity and therefore makes it easier to snort cocai... I mean, green herb powder.

Im not usually the one to complain about microsofts pricing structure but i hope they know that i can get this for free right. i mean ms surely reads game blogs and such to realize that they are giving this away now a days.

I think it's actually brilliant timing. The free steam copy does me absolutely no good as my computer cannot even dream about running it. I may be in the minority here but I'm sure I am not alone, so if someone like me saw Portal for free the other day, cursed their luck for having a POS computer then saw it on sale on XBLA, they may be inclined to pick it up. I already have The Orange Box and Portal: Still Alive but if I didn't I would follow that exact logic and buy it today.

You can currently get the PC version for free.

PC version != XBLA version.

@kazD

If you aren't getting it at or soon after release, just wait. Everything goes on sale at some point. Same thing goes for retail games. If you don't want it that bad and can wait a bit, then do so because it will go down in price just weeks after it's out.

@Uncle Jesse I saw it on sale a couple months ago (i think right before Portal 2 came out) and I'm pretty sure Portal was on sale then as well because I bought that instead.This last weekend i was looking for something and I honestly thought, "it was just on sale a few months ago, no way it goes on sale again." That's what I get for thinking. Now I want to get Battlefield 2 but even if I get Ultimate I still have to buy Vietnam and I just missed that on sale.

It's got 1000 points of achievements but you can tell it was originally planned to be an XBLA title because it only has 12 achievements. Code Veronica X is the same.

$20 is pretty nuts for a barebones port of a nearly 7 year old game. It was $20 on Wii 4 years ago. On disc $30 would've been reasonable for both of them together. As downloads they should be even cheaper.

@DiscoStick J81 Eurogamer say it's an upscaled 480i version (basically a direct port of the Gamecube model) which is pretty disappointing. The usual Capcon cash-grab then.
Still, I've never played it and it's only $10 for PS+ subscribers so I'm waiting for the store to update and getting it right away.

Ouch - $20 for Resident Evil 4? It's one of my favorite games of all time but no way I'm plopping that kind of money for some improved HD visuals... I'll stick with my Gamecube and PS2 versions.

I was hoping the Major was going to announce a date for Iron Brigade / Trenched on XBLA. Double Fine were aiming for a September launch, I guess they missed the window.

Avoid this so-called HD Resident Evil 4. Contrary to some reviews, this is NOT the Gamecube or Wii version. It's the PS2/PC version. There is a huge difference.

The PS2/PC textures are lower resolution than Gamecube/Wii. With a higher res they are okay in the distance but pretty hideous up close. ALL of the lighting effects are missing in this version, effects present in the Wii and Gamecube versions in favor of basic lighting. The polygon models are lower on this HD version than on Wii.

What is different over the PC/PS2 version is the cutscenes. In the PC/PS2 version they are all pre-rendered SD video which was different from Wii/Gamecube which used the in-game engine. This HD version appears to have SOME cutscenes using the in-game engine and SOME cutscenes using the same old SD videos as on the PS2/PC version. Very odd indeed.

The lack of lighting effects is disappointing. An HD Wii port would look a lot better than this. On the PS2 version you can mod the textures to higher-resolution (or the Wii ones) and replace the cutscenes with 1080p versions (made using the dolphin Wii/cube emulator).

Sad..... Lazy port.

That's disappointing to hear... I was wondering how they were going to get the PS2 content on there with the GC version of the game. Guess that answers my question: they didn't.

The PS2 version was still decent enough, but it looked horrible compared to the gamecube version.

What control scheme does RE4 have? The same as RE5 or the tank-controls of previous entries? I've googled around and can't find an easy answer.
