I don't get companies that do this shit. I am sure this will sell but they could have sold 3x more if they just added a bunch more buttons. I mean what is the real cost of adding in 7 more buttons just in case. Why don't manufacturers think past the sale of more than 10 an see that giving people choice increases sales. I will never understand the decisions that some companies make and I'd like a documentary on the people who make these decisions.

Why even bother than if all you want to sell is a few hundred vs a few thousand? I guess financial decisions is not a strong trait.

What's the real cost of adding 7 more buttons just in case?

Millions, because by adding 7 buttons now, they will lose out of revenue from the 2 button version, 3 button version, 4 button version, 5 button version, 6 button version, and 7 button version.

The fact that they put only 1 button on it show you that they ARE thinking past the sales of 10.

I was going to say something about purchasing an actual vintage Space Invaders arcade game, but s7r1k3r's comment has gotten me confused and aroused.

I am just talking about business decisions. Why create a product that will theoretically work on one game, when if you expand the product a little or gave it a little more love you would be able to sell alot more. This is not about ethics, responsibilities or even a company pandering to its customers. This is a pure business decision which costs them tons of $$ without thinking just a little bit ahead.

It's pretty simple, they'll sell specialized versions of the arcade cabinet for a variety of uses. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the StreetFIGHTERcade in a few months with 6 buttons. Then the TEKKENcade and finally the steelBATTALIONcade with over 40 buttons and switches. And each one will cost more and more to buy. Basically they're gambling on future profits, hoping people will be receptive to this.

It's bad enough they made a cabinet for a single game but what's really awful is they couldn't even get that one game's controls right. Space Invaders is supposed to be played with a knob paddle, not a joystick.

I played Space Invaders when it came out at my local bowling alley as a kid. It had a joystick, not a knob paddle.

Good lord, I'm old.

What are knob paddle's? I know what a joystick is because I can see it on the invadercade

And of course, no one is talking about the above trailer for the device and its valium-infused host.

Seriously, I thought that was hilarious.

@TheChezDispenser I'm with you. The music, the graphics and the fonts of the beginning of the "show" took me right back to the 70s. They did an incredible job. A lot of younger people will think it was just hokey, but that really was how they tried to make things look futuristic back then. Of course, the choppy edits and the stilted delivery were the icing on the cake.
