I'd be pissed if I was one of those people. We don't all have 6.6 gigs just laying around

@MEMgrizzlies7 Why would you be pissed? They replaced something they didn't have to. For free. I think it's pretty awesome of them. A lot of betas don't allow you to keep stuff after the beta is over.

Why? Those people participated in a beta and were promised a free game for it. They still have the exact same free game, it's just downloaded instead of on a disc.

Pissed? Two free games?

If you own a 360 and games to play on and most likely an HDTV, I am quite sure obtaining a memory stick is no problem.

It's harder to find things you don't need on a 20GB hard drive you've had for 6 years

Seriously really sad. And to think when gamers used to say "Who the hell needs more than 20GB?" and now those gamers expect everyone to have bought the over-priced HDDs to replace the 20GB-60GB HDDs or keep buying accessories to upgrade every single time.

Good grief. The game was FREE with the beta. That was generous to begin with. You should be happy they gave you a game at all.

My faith in Joystiq commenters has gone down drastically after seeing us get downvoted simply because we don't have 120GB hard drives.

Solution: Get a bigger HDD. You have to buy one every couple of years if you don't want to delete stuff. I did it with my PC & PS3. It's not hard and the prices are way cheaper now. Suck it up & either delete stuff that you can redownload later or buy a new drive. 20GB certainly doesn't last forever.

I think you were getting down voted for the whole, "I'd be pissed that their solution to a problem they didn't really need to fix, because it was free to begin with, which basically gave me two free copies of a game, would be a slight inconvenience" thing and not so much because of your HDD situation. I don't know though, I'm not a doctor.

I have a 20 gig HD too. I have to sort through crap once at least once a month for new demos or DLC. I have tons of Arcade Titles on the "re-download" list. I'd still would be pretty happy to get a free G.O.D. copy of any game especially if I already had a still playable (though offline) copy that I already got for free.

@swooded This guy gets it. I can completely understand the hard drive situation. Heck, sometimes I even come close to running out of space on my 120gb hard drive. The point is you're getting something for free, to replace something else you got for free, when they didn't have to let you have either. They could have just as easily made it so the beta Halo: Reach Disc you got in the mail was unplayable online as soon as the beta for the dashboard update was over with. Instead, they didn't, and attempted to support the disc to the best of their abilities, even replacing the content when they were unable to. Being in a beta does not entitle you to free copies of whatever you are testing.

Just got the email about this earlier. I wish they would have solved it another way, but due to some other complications, it was impossible and there was no other way. Thanks Microsoft for my third copy of Halo: Reach! Now I can finally play the update!

this suits me just fine. i've got tons of space on my 120 GB drive, and i'll be glad to know that my disc drive will probably have its lifespan increased.. since this game is the only thing i really use it for atm, and i play quite often.

also, i'm glad that the issue was resolved within one day. MS could have easily just told us to go f' ourselves and buy a new copy.

Too bad I have a 20gig HDD that's got zero space available. My fifth xbox to boot. Had to pay for repairs the last time... oh! and they didn't give me an HDMI unit when it was replaced. So I kind of feel they owed me that copy of Reach, and then some. And now they took it away, arrgh...

If you did it on Xbox.com, you can log in to your account on your friend's Xbox to download it, and it will be tied to his Xbox.
