NO NO NO!!! Not the dreaded use of "totes"!!! I thought I could escape it @ Joystiq but my last efforts have failed. Now I've no choice but to delete the internets.

@Purgingomen
You complain about the use of "totes" but you use "@" instead of "at?"

They'll probably just buy them out.

Eh, Masthead is just supporting Interplay with dev tools if I remember right. There was an announcement on the old Earthrise forums about it, though all of that got wiped on release it seems.

Though to be bluntly honest, Bethesda only needs to wait a little bit. Sure they won't get it now, but... I doubt the Fallout MMO is going anywhere at all. MH has been having hell with Earthrise from what I've gathered, and if Interplay is using those same tools... well, let's just say that the world of Fallout will see a second Fallout.

They tried suing them into oblivion, nerd raged, now they're dealing with the fallout.

Downvotes ahoy!

Please Bethesda, don't screw this up. I wanted to play your Fallout games co-op, but an MMO is fine for me.

Judging by the shit job Masthead did with Earthrise, can you blame Bethesda for trying to protect their brand?

I'm actually kinda worried that if this Fallout Online game is released, it's narrative is going to completely randon and non-canon. If they're going to put the Fallout logo on it, it has to be part of the Fallout universe.

@(Unverified) And yet you have no problem with Fallout 3, which randomly turns the GECK into the science fiction equivalent of magic, severely alters the core tenets of series factions, has a completely unrealistic timetable relative to the rest of the series, makes up rules on the fly, and on the whole has the flimsiest and most obviously ripped-off main story narrative in the entire series, counting even games like Brotherhood of Steel?

Excellent! Who else is hyped for Fallout Online's 2019 release date, $10,000 budget, and ten-month-long lifespan?

@slickie

$10,000 for 10 months is actually... pretty darn cheap.

What's the panic? A MMO is a massively expensive undertaking with slim chances for success, especially with all the big boys buying in. This will wipe out Interplay and Bethesda won't have to worry about them anymore.

I don't care who makes the next fallout as long as it's much much better than New Vegas. I went back and played FO 3 months after retiring my copy of NV wondering 'was I just crazy? Or Was fallout 3 a million times better than this newer, crappier game?' and indeed FO 3 is still amazes me while NV is still nothing but a disappointment.

Heh. I just spent all day playing New Vegas. I haven't played Fallout 3, though. The game is okay so far and I'll probably get the DLC whenever it goes on sale.

I'm sure the story of how we got here all went something like this:

Bethesda: "Hey Interplay, you guys are broke, how about we give you some money for Fallout?"

Interplay: "Okay, but we still want to do something with it... like an MMO, yeah an MMO sounds easy"

Bethesda: "We don't see the harm in that, let's do it!"
*Bethesda sells squajillions*
Bethesda: "Yay!"

B's Marketing: "Nice going guys! We've resurrected this old franchise and turned it into one of the hottest brands about. Now all we have to do is make sure no one can ruin the great name we've made for ourselves"

Interplay: "Oh hey guys. Just wanted to congratulate you on your game and let you know that we're still working on that MMO. We've never really done an MMO before but we think it'll turn out alright. Cya round!"

Bethesda: "Oh crap."
