@Kuroyume

It's made by Microsoft and will most likely be/have proprietary connections... you be the judge based on past events...

Cool idea. I would like to see more of these, especially on Android.

@MEGATOOL Oh, nevermind. I just realized that the article said that MS patented it. It's early.

This almost defeats the purpose for me. I think the biggest drawback of having a meaningful gaming experience on a phone will be battery life. Heck, the Vita and 3DS have/are going to have battery life issues and they don't even bother with being a phone. Once that's figured out I think it'll change.

Agreed, the best way to drain a phone's battery is to play games on it.

We're so much closer to a Star Trek, morphic keyboard style setup.

Make it so.

The film strip may be for video editing?

For gaming I guess you could play touch-screen games with the second battery in.

This seems like a good idea, but unless the phone has a way to store the extra attachments it's doomed to the purgatory of weird awkward devices. I'd carry a phone, but not a bunch of attachments. This is because there's a certain number of plastic devices the average person is willing to carry with them.

(Hint: It's a whole number between 0 and 2)

This is an incredible idea. I would ditch my iPhone if Windows Phone 7 or 8 handsets were like this.

It'd be cool if it had a USB to plug into a 360 and it becomes an actual controller... Maybe it'd be cool. I think. Sounds kinda cool.

This article needs correcting. MS did not receive a patent for this. They filed an application for a patent wherein the source is a publication of the patent application.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet, but there's a Windows icon on the phone, much like how the Windows Phone devices are manufactured. So, if this was anything but a Windows-related device, it would make very little sense to put that icon on there.
