Im sorry but I dont really follow her and know her. What's the big deal about Felicia Day? Did she made a hotel video like Kim Kardashian and became famous like that?

@Castiel

She was a bit part actor (appeared on Buffy as a slayer fact fans!) who came out as a gaming geek, made The Guild, gained attention from WoW nerds, became nerd pin-up, became famous.

Kind of like how Jessica Chobot only became nerd-famous because of a photo of her licking a PSP in a sexy way.

Day is pretty talented and enthusiastic but I prefer Veronica Belmont for all my geek pin-up fantasies.

@arkweld It should also be mentioned that she continues to act/support sci-fi shows and other "nerd" events. Essentially she is a female Wil Wheaton.

Kind of, but Wheaton became famous because he was a regular actor on one of the biggest television shows in the world who then started to champion geek culture and got a new type of fan base.

For Felicia Day it's the other way around.

I had her confused with Alyson Hannigan. Now I realize I have no idea who she is.

Because she's ostensibly a nerd, and that made her popular. The main difference being is she isn't like the scummy YouTube "stars" that claimed to do the same, such as iJustine. (Whose career makes me furious.) She plays up the sex appeal, but has a down to Earth, 'girl next door,' appearance that keeps her from being obnoxious. And she actually is talented.

@arkweld Who cares why someone is famous? If you break it down everyone has a story like that. Harrison Ford is only famous because he was working on the set of Star Wars as a carpenter and George Lucas liked his look.

Sure, he went on to do a ton of stuff and deserves accolades as an actor. But he is only famous because George Lucas gave him a shot not based on acting skill.

If some stupid girl who had zero interest in gaming tried to "pretend" her way to "nerd fame" she'd be quickly discovered as a fake and people would stop caring about her. That isn't what happened here as every woman you mentioned has had continued success in their field. That field by the way.. is called ENTERTAINMENT.

Should she instead have gotten famous by some means other than doing something entertaining?

OMG Chobot is only famous cuz she licked a PSP. Yep, entertaining.

If only you'd thought of it first. Maybe you'd be famous.

Felicia Day is cool and all but it just feels like she is turning into Chuck Norris jokes. But it's only my opinion, she still is rad, though.

Who is Felicia Day, and why does anyone care about DLC for a game that averaged a 4 on Metacritic and managed to only move a sixth of the copies of its predecessor?

Because, as much as I HATED DA2 the first time through, it's really a better game than many gave it credit for. And while I'm not as hopeful for MotA, Legacy at least actually contributed to the overall story and mythos of Thedas very, very well.

*ahem* http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/dragon-age-ii
Critically, an 8, users gave a 4.

At which point I'll bother to point out user reviews on Metacritic are worth less than crap. For almost a year LBP2 was user rated at a 2 because of a smear campaign by morons in the first few months, until Metacritic finally removed all the bullshit votes by scripting programs.

The game has numerous issues, but is nowhere near as bad as people claim. Up until Act 3 it's still a decent game, despite it's terrible locale variety. Sure, it's not what fans wanted, but on it's own merits it's less of an insult to games than FF13 was, and people still defend that atrocities that game made.

The critic reviews are worth less than crap, because everyone's scared to give a bad review to a AAA game and risk losing ad sales, exclusive previews, etc. This is why companies like EA can churn out a quick cash-grab like Dragon Age II and still get sloppy blowjobs from all the critics.

Metacritic works best when you further average the Critic and User scores together.

Dragon Age II is a solid Metacritic 6 in my book.

@Jennacide You make some good points but I have heard nothing but complaints about this game from comments here and in other gaming forums. I am growing to trust reviews less and less, I like sports games and knew NHL 12 would get an 8.5 from IGN before even looking. It is a fact that EA Sports games consistently get reviewed in the 8.5-9.0 range but if you check actual sports gamers hangouts like operationsports, people are generally livid about them and hate EA. Not to mention that EA's anti-consumer activities like online passes are never mentioned in the reviews.

Slapping in a photorealistic face around a bunch of stylized anime-inspired character faces does not mesh well, Bioware.

I'm more bothered that Felicia Day is just reading lines as herself, not as a character that lives in that world. I don't dislike her in general, but I am extremely... cautious about MotA. :/

Not photorealistic in the least. She has said on multiple occassions she built the character in the character creator, they never scanned her in.

They need to replace the captain of their brainship because they are drunk at the wheel.

Everything the DA team has done after DA:O gets worse. they just keep trying to save this franchise in all the wrongs ways.

They just need to forget about da2 and start working on DA3, and hope people buy it. something tells me they are too stubborn to be 'wrong' so we'll be stuck with a bunch of changes nobody asked for, regardless.

Well an esclation of events isn't what I was reffering to. I was speaking of gameplay changes. they've HINTED that it will be somewhere in between the two games in terms of gameplay, but we'll see.

Good writing can also make that a good story, it's concept certainly wasn't flawed, but its implementation was.

Eh, the Mass Effect team messed up Yvonne's look and they're turning out to be more competent than the DA team. I have no faith in this DLC to be worthwhile, or not making Feclica's character hideous

Felicia has stated that she designed her character in the character editor.

As for Yvonne her face was used as a base for Miranda, it wasn't a 1 to 1 copy of it.

So is this worth playing? Is it connected to the story? I'm trying to decide whether to just play Origins and not even start with Dragon Age 2. Thoughts...

@Committed

If you haven't played either, try to start with Origins just for the introduction to the universe the games are in. When you make the jump from one game to the next, though, keep in mind that Thedas is presented much differently in DA2 than DA:O. It's the same world, but through much different eyes. Also, DA2 rewards being decisive IMO. Playing the neutral observer is the least satisfying way to approach the game.
