What we're appreciating most about Dark Souls' marketing campaign is how it repeatedly warns about the game's difficulty. It's not gonna be a "how hard could it be?" situation like Demon's Souls. Nope, the cards are on the table.

@GunnersDream78 I thought we had Ninja Gaiden for that?

@Milak Gaiden was hard but like you said, Demon Souls is a fricking nightmare to the impatient.

@Milak As someone who has played both games extensively (that includes Ninja Gaiden Black/Sigma, and II/Sigma 2, as well as Demon's Souls for 200+ hours) I would say Demon's Souls is harder than Ninja Gaiden until you get up to Master Ninja mode... and then that's just straight torture (which I loved. :P)
VERY excited for the difficulty in Dark Souls!

It is painful waiting for this. Trying to wrap up Gears 3 3D, AM's Alice, and Alice Madness Returns. Maybe Crysis 2 3D if I get the others finished.
But this game, I need it so bad it hurts.

"Wanna take a drive in myyyyy Honda Civic? did i mention i owwwwn a Hoooonda Civic?"
I can tell 3d is your format of choice just by looking at your avatar. Let me ask you this, just how bloody are your eyes right now from playing all those 3d games?

Have they addressed the freezing problems plaguing the JP launch?

it's not only freezing issue. save data crashing, some even requires HDD re-format, NPC dissapearing, enemy, including boss, falling off the map and dead before you do anything. full of glitches.
it's PS3-exclusive in Japan, so 360 version could be free of these glitches. but if you gonna get PS3 copy, you should be prepared and keep back up of your data.

@straw hat That sounds really fishy. I mean Demons Souls was made from the ground up for the PS3. To have the Xbox as the lead platform is counter intuitive and against what the industry is now doing. Always, there will always be problems to fix from doing this, but there is no way of knowing

I'm playing Demon's Souls right now and I'm stuck at the world 2-2 for 6 hours already. I lost about 60000 souls from dying dozens and dozens of times. This game is brutal.
Posted: Sep 28th 2011 8:13PM wrongThinker said
@jocaju 1-2 I think is the biggest hurdle in the game. If you got past that, just keep at it. However... you don't have to beat 1-2 to get to 2-2, so perhaps you have yet to defeat the Tower Knight?

@jocaju so...yeah 2-1 is probably the most frustrating level. You are usually ill-equipped to deal with it when you get there and....Flamelurker is probably the toughest boss in the game. Try beating all the "1" levels first then the 2s. ie. 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1.

Don't forget the shortcut down the shaft to the Flamelurker. Takes a while to get it down, I advise watching a video of someone doing it before you try though.

Couldn't agree more. World 1-2 is frustrating b/c it is probably the only portion of the game that's truly trial-and-error.
It's where I stopped playing the game certainly and didn't come back for a couple of months. Once I got over that hump, everything else was golden.

Wow, lol.
If someone can have fun playing a game for 3 1/2 hours while making 0 progress that must be some kind of game. I'm new to this series and pretty intrigued now. Going to wait for a review, but may pick this up.
& that trailer was epic. Great music.

@whylekat This is the exact reason I stopped playing Demons Souls. I actually really liked the game and thought the difficulty was high (obviously) but manageable/fair, but after playing the game for 2 hours and making literally NO progress AT ALL, I thought "eff it, I have a backlog the size of a small European country, I could be using my time to actually GET somewhere."
