Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi recently announced on Twitter that Gran Turismo 5 will be widely expanded next month -- though he didn't really explain how. According to the Tweet, the game's "Spec 2.0 update" will launch during the 3rd week of October, with a new DLC pack scheduled to launch the following week.
Kaz didn't mention any of the contents of either the update or DLC, leaving us to use our imaginations to determine their constituent features. We're gonna guess the update adds a fifth wheel to most cars, while the DLC's proximity to Halloween ensures it will contain some spooky vehicles, like a ... um, a werewolf bus.

And that's the truth. The game definitely has its flaws, but I've never, EVER played a game in which the simple act of just driving is so fun. I'll sit down and tune my car doing practice laps for hours. So addictive.

Sweet. I was going to go pick up Gran Turismo 5 at some point next week, so this couldn't have come at a better time. I'm glad to see that they are continually supporting this game (along with other Sony IPs). Though, I suppose its not surprising, seeing as the game has sold almost 7m copies, which is ridiculous for a Playstation game.

@MW49350 I would imagine this is a game that will be supported for a long time to come. It's Gran Turismo after all.

@Mr Hett oh this is a very tall order. there is so many of them and i imagine 1 car cat take pretty long time to model. i just accepted regular model and i just don't bother me any more, but i guess they can make few of them premium like veyron.

I think we're on version 1.12 now, so twelve. They've supported this game very well.

Why arent more full PS3 games offered on PSN? Its 2011 for Gods sake. At least all first party games should be offered (GT5, LBP2) and how about games that are played a little every week for months on end (SSF4AE and King of Fighteres 13), that should reduce the wear and tear on systems if they were offered as full price downloads.

Yeah, one of my top 3 all-time favorite lines is in that episode, "So I put 2 and 2 together there and uh, decided that you're pissin' me off."

It's funny that those dirt bags in IGN Australia comes with a article trolling about the lack of GT5 content in the doorsteps of Forza 4 releasing. That begs the question if this is just IGN forcing Sony's hand in announcing this stuff.

I stopped playing this after I got stuck in the ranking bottleneck where I couldn't do any more races without grinding a bunch of races for money. I moved on to b-spec for a while, racing with all the best cars I had while playing Minecraft on my computer, but eventually I hit a bottleneck there as well. Maybe this patch can bring me back in.

The DLC will be delayed to 2014, where it will disappoint long time GT fans. Sorry folks.

I just want more replay features. It's a pain in the ass to have to sit through 8 minutes of racing to get to that one epic awesome finish.
Fast forward, rewind, and slow motion would be a godsend.

Good god! An update, almost a year after release! DLC - same.
I hope its good to keep me entertained.
Or... at least, keep me from buying Forza around the same time!
GT5 has been my main driving 'simulation' for a while, I hope it stays that way, or dare I say it, Microsoft are getting my time, and the use of my GT Steering Wheel lol

I don't think your DFGT works on the 360. That's been a HUGE downside to racing games on the Xbox; hardly any wheels are made for the console, much less supported by the games.

YES! Finally! I hope they fix the smoke particles issue.
Oh yeah, and making every car premium. But even if this doesn't happen, it will still be the greatest racing game I've ever played (besides Super Mario Kart), because of one thing: the unbelievable lifelike physics that no other racing game has yet to emulate. Hell, even Forza 3's physics were less realistic than GT4's.

Wow just after reading an article on IGN about it being neglected. I remember reading somewhere that they would update his game monthly but I don't think that has happened.. But at least they are updating, just not every month. I've been wanting to try this game with my new headset to see how he engines sound. Mint try it tonight. Looking forward to this update and DLC!

I wanted to get this game while I waited for forza 4 but i hear there's horrible car damage and only a few cars with detail need some opinions on it I've read mixed reviews

@skbkoy65
60% are standard models (which still look better than most games), and 40% are premium, complete models, with incredible detail inside and out.
The damage is not horrible at all, its fine. Especially the way the damage actually effects the way the car drives/handles.
Dont be a dingbat, buy it!
