Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light leaping to Xperia Play

Last year, Square Enix snuck Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light onto the iOS App Store. It's following that mobile release this November with a version for Android -- specifically, Sony Ericsson's button-enriched phone, the Xperia Play.

This is part of a newly announced partnership between Square Enix and Sony Ericsson, which will bring more of the publisher's "established hits" to the Xperia Play "in the coming months." As of now, only Guardian of Light has been announced. A look at Square Enix's iPhone catalog could at least suggest possibilities.

Been playing some more traditional genre type games on my DINC2 and I must say: Virtual buttons flat out suck. It almost kills the entire gaming experience to me. I may say 3DS and Vita have a much more crowded battle field this time around than in previous years, but man count me in among the pro "gameboy" style of portable gaming. Cell phones just don't cut it for me and traditional genres.

Xperia, if you MUST game on a cell phone, appears to be the way to go.

Xperia has some dandy hardware in terms of GPU, CPU, and RAM. Add to this the fat that the gaming controls allow for some solid accomplishments. Potentially and objectively speaking, Xperia Play has solid traditional gaming potential since it should ideally be able to churn out some good looking and in-depth titles. Unfortunately, the general Android/Mobile culture and follow-up stigma will most likely limit this gaming device-phone hybrid from achieving its true potential.

I would like another of these games, please.

I love my Play. I've got every emulator possible, including Mame... as well as every game i've ever loved when I frequented the arcades and played on my SNes and Genesis. I hope they support it with more, but i can be satisfied with it's capabilities now. Just more ps ports would be nice.
