Definitely agree. I'd much rather play the dlc on an improved version of the base game.

I put in 28 hours now, have hit minor issues - and I am having a freaking blast. Not the "glitch fest" reviewers were always whining about.

That was BEFORE the patch too, I never got 1.01 - but I did get 1.02.

I agree. I'm having an awesome time playing this game. It's already the best Zombie game ever. The story alone is awesome but being able to kill Zombies in so many different ways is just great fun.

I can't believe I've dumped in 38 hrs into this game, and I've just gotten to Act III.

There are alot of cheap deaths, but thankfully, reload times are quick, and outside of that, I find the game addictively fun and am glad that I completely ignored Justin's review on this one.

@Faenix I third that. So far it's my fav zombie game this gen, even more so than L4D or Res Evil 5. For what was reviewed as a "glitch" fest, I've had one or two annoying glitches and that's it.

@IQ Review I agree. This is very much zombie Borderlands, and that's what makes it super fun. Multiplayer is especially a blast. Killing the zombies is so satisfying in this one.

I imagine it's just not everyone's type of game. I remember Borderlands having mixed reviews when it came out as well, but I am glad to see BL2 getting more love now.

Simple. If they ended up going gold later than they intended to, they would have less time to work on the DLC immediately after, giving them less time to meet the same deadline.

They should've just cleaned up the game BEFORE shipping it. Better delay it than ship a product that you have to devote all your resources to patching up after release. Also, the game has been close to bug-free for me.

@KungFuChaosNinja Yeah, I'm not going to blame Techland here. I bet they had some very, very strict ship dates. It'd be nice if every game dev made enough to do Blizzard time("It's done when it's done.), but not all can. Heck, even Blizzard will probably be tuning some things in Diablo III as time goes on(for free of course), and no one will even put up a fuss. I think DI is just the thing all the cool kids love to hate, and basically keep yelling "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKEEEEEE!"

Let's put a positive spin on this. This heretofore unknown company was able to successfully convince people to pay $59.99 to help beta test their game in progress. I say kudos to them. (Just don't tell Kotick.)

@FlashJS Positive spin is fine but I lost about 20 hours of progress thanks to the save bug. Really frustrating and their semiliterate support person couldn't have cared less. "Dear Customer. Gone is gone." was the reply to my email. The game is incredibly fun but I'm not sure I'd buy another one from this company until it's from the bargain bin and fully patched.

I'm a firm believer that "Further polishing of the main game" should take place BEFORE the game is released to the public.

One of the reasons why I don't buy anything made by Bethesda until at least a year after its release date.

I'm honestly happy they released it, the game isnt as glitchy as some whine about. fallout 3/new vegas is glitchier, at least for me. They barely fixed anything in those, and instead released like 5 DLC each.

If they DID release it later, I would of had to skip it cause of Dark Souls, BF3, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, and AC: Revelations.

I can't really recall any glitches off hand, maybe I've came across one or two. This game is so awesome you can forgive a few mishaps that you might encounter by a slim margin.

On a side note, is there somewhere you can check how long your play time is on the 360 version? I did every sidequest I could find and it took me roughly 2-3 weeks to finish at about 3-4 hours a day. I swear I played at least 60 hours from start to finish (solo).

On the main menu, go into options - I think thats what it was, and you will see "Personal Statistics". Total play time, etc. is in there.

@FlashJS

Not really. Many "competent" developers put out things that have some issues, because we live in a world of publisher deadlines, working within budget constraints, etc. Sometimes it's just not possible to further delay a product. If anything, Techland is proving that they're not "incompetent" and they're patching up any issues that arise. Like I said, I haven't experience any issues that I'd say need patched up with the Xbox 360 version. Sure, like any other game, there are a few oddities here and there, but nothing that needs patched, just something that shows it's not a "perfect" product, but neither are most big titles that people pretend are "perfect". Remember Gears of War 2's multiplayer when it launched? It was an utter mess. Anyways, Techland delivered a solid product--atleast on Xbox 360--and they're showing that they're perfectly competent and patching any issues. It does stink that the PS3 and PC versions had some launch issues, i.e. saves on PS3 and the beta version being released on PC, but they've been on these issues, thankfully.

I'm happy that I supported Dead Island, as it's an insanely enjoyable game.

So please, don't laugh, because you're not being funny and you're not laughing at anything funny.

@FlashJS Have you even played Dead Island? It's a really fun game, with a couple flaws. If they're working on fixing them, all the better.

I'm just saying this is a better situation than leaving a game WITH flaws and then just "promising to fix it with DLC" and failing to deliver.

But y'know, whatever, different strokes for different folks, looking down on others and all I guess.

@KungFuChaosNinja I agree with this point. There are errors in any kind of large-retail game release (the games you mentioned, I'll add L4D2 and New Vegas to that pile). Valve was awfully quick about fixing L4D2 servers for the 360, and Bethesda at least acknowledged and fixed rather quickly the New Vegas bugs(rotating head anyone?). Point is, it's a great trend to see companies going more towards "We recognize some flaws with our game balance/tech bugs, so we're going to focus on fixing that" instead of just saying "LOL, yeah, right. Now buy this DLC. It will magically fix everything."

I hope the trend continues! 99% of game launches aren't that perfect.

I wouldn't say a couple of flaws, I would say major flaws. It was hard to join games, maps refreshing, ingame pc wouldnt load. Characters getting stuck in rocks and objects. The one thing that set me over the edge was when my lvl 45 file was corrupted and wouldn't reload. The fact that other players are not able to gain xp from missions also killed multiplayer for me. Even after the update hit, I didn't notice anything change. The sandbox style gameplay was what had me hooked the whole time. I hope there will be a sequal to it.. It was a love n hate relationship, I think the dlc will make me fire it back up. It's not better than L4d.

This game is awesome and very enjoyable. You will get your money out of this purchase and then some. Remember these guys came out of nowhere and made a brave game that may not be as polished as other games but is more fun than most. I applaud Techland getting an independent game in to the mainstream. I am sure this was no easy task.

Dead Island has issues, this is true, but at least they are working on them and this company does not have the same pockets as say an Activision or an EA (we have seen the kind of shovelware they produce sometimes).

Lets cut them a break and enjoy the game. I am confident that the issues that are occurring will be corrected soon enough.

Bravo Techland, Bravo!!!

I hope people don't spend $60 on it like I did and just hold out for a price drop. Brink was a better fps game, I can't believe I'm even saying that...lol I guess people are seeing something in this game that I'm not.
