The fighting game renaissance is in full swing, with massively successful titles still in the rear-view mirror, and highly anticipated fighters coming strong and steady in the near future and beyond. The soul still burns, or something, so it makes perfect sense for Hudson to announce the production of a new Bloody Roar title via Twitter.
No other concrete information is available as of yet, but the #BloodyRoarProject2012 and #BloodyRoar5 hashtags used in the tweet are implicit enough to get the rumor mill running at full till. Bloody Roar, if you'll recall, is the Tekken-esque 3D fighting series characterized by its transforming, anthropomorphized animal fighters, which has been dormant since 2003's Bloody Roar 4. Also dormant? Our ability to see, thanks to Hudson's blinding font colors.
[Thanks, Dean!]

Eeesh, yellow text on a white background? Whose bright idea was that one?
On topic though, I never really played Bloody Roar but I thought the concept looked cool. I bet fans will be pleased.

The burning in my eyes is only slightly less than the burning in my heart.
I'm really excited; BR was always one of my favorite fighters, even though it was never particularly deep. 4 was a great step in terms of gameplay, though the voice acting and "narrative" elements were absolutely terrible. Apparently they were working on it before Hudson shut down around the time it was pulled into Konami?
Either way, excited. It's a niche game, but it was always a really solid, fun title, and it deserves another chance.

A new bloody roar? If it has anything resembling a modern graphic engine, that could be pretty badass.

Last one I played was 4 on PS2.
BR1 got me hooked when a friend let me borrow that and Tekken, at first I didn't know the game so ignored it, then I discovered I preferred it more than Tekken, lol. Its just a shame that so few people knew about the game.

Well Ono is still trying to get the higher-ups to agree to a new darkstalkers, apparently, so there's still hope.
Not sure about Rival Schools or Power Stone though, but it makes me wonder how well the Power Stone Collection that was released for PSP a while back sold.

I can't shake this feeling that with all of the fighting games coming out that developers and publishers are tempting a second crash in the genre.

I can't express my excitement any more than I am now :D This is awesome news. I was wondering why there hadn't been a BR game for the new generation and assumed they had ditched the IP once and for all.
My issue with Bloody Roar Games has always been the lack of content and clear ways to develop a characters moves and combos beyond transformations. It was an innovative game by all means and had something that no other fighter had, a pretty damn awesome concept, but it was always half-hearted, the graphics looked good, but the plots were meh, characters were a bit meh and unlike Street Fighter, Tekken, VF and DOA, it lacked reasoning to master the moves.
So here is all my faith going into the bucket, address these concerns: Its a ferocious frenzy of a game, so its okay to have some blood, clothes tearing and broken limbs, I also want a vaster array of moves when in beast mode, a selection of 4 buttons is pathetic -_-, I want a more developed script, nothing complexed and golden pen worthy, just something that makes a little more sense. I want more likable and developed characters, give Yugo and the others more identification. More moves in human mode so you don't feel pathetic against someone who has switched to beast mode, I should be able to kick their ass regardless of whether or not they are in beast mode.... except rave, rave is a sacrifice so I can accept that. I want more reversals, beast mode specials annoy me -_- as they are unblockable and unbreakable, which is stupid. More destructible environments, maintain the breakable fences. Online mode please! More options as well please, customize character being one, maybe a career mode etc.
On top of all that, I'd simply like them to keep all the good bits that made it awesome and add more awesomeness :)

Oh, and I'd prefer if the trigger buttons switched you to beast mode or Rave. The circle button was always a pain in the arse, pressed it sometimes by mistake and wasted beast power + its invasive, that's a whole button that could be used for more combos and fighting moves and it only has a purpose when in beast mode, the rest of the time it gets ignored :/

1) Its nice to see Hudson work on some reputable games at least
2) We need a proper Bomberman game, perhaps a direct sequel to Second Attack?
3) I'm still waiting on the two other Bomberman N64 titles for Wiiware. They released Hero, but not the two superior ones.

Yeeeees. And hopefully they take it more in the direction PF was going; Extreme was an unnecessary and ill-conceived port, and 4 was just straight up awful.
