If you're snagging Battlefield 3 from Amazon, you'll net some extra goodies, the online retailer has revealed. Everyone who pre-orders will gain not only the Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand DLC -- which includes four different maps from Battlefield 2 updated in Frostbite 2.0 and several of the game's "weapons, vehicles and unique rewards" -- but also some exclusive dog tags for the game's multiplayer side.
Already pre-ordered? Don't sweat it, Amazon is extending this offer to those who've already pre-ordered the game -- that is, unless you've canceled your pre-order after checking out the beta.

They should waive the requirement of installing Origin if you pre-order, that would make those pre-order sales go way up.

Anyone know how to view the amount of dog tags you've taken on battlelog? I cant figure it out :(

@Mr Hett
Soldier stats, then the Dog Tags tab towards the right. That will list all Dog Tags. If you click the filter for Taken on the right side, it will narrow to just those.

They should get rid of the fact that you need a super sweet computer to run BF3 at Ultra settings.

Wait... so you want "ultra" settings to be designed to run on mid-range machines?
Doesn't sound very "ultra" to me... I think you completely miss the point of what this setting is there for.

I've been running this on a 3.16GHz Core2Duo (wolfdale) with 8GB DDR3 1333, and a 1GB DDR5 Radeon 5670. Not a beast by any stretch.
No, it's not on maximum settings. It's a a good mix of what would be considered high and medium settings. And it's plays absolutely wonderful.

@Monchis Well I don't think BF3 has had as much negative publicity as the beta gave it

@Monchis I thought the same thing, I'm not against a negative outlook for the game but that did come across as uncalled for to me.

It might have been a cheap shot, but it wasn't really unjustified. DICE has been pretty uncool about the issues, from bouncing around about solving them to outright denying that there are certain problems. Plus, apparently it was confirmed the Beta is only a month old, and for having all of those issues so close to release, its pretty unacceptable.
As a paying consumer and huge fan of DICE, I feel pretty let down.

I'm not big on FPS games, or COD, but I bought into the hype.
When I downloaded the beta I was expecting a unique shooter, and "the best graphics" for an FPS...it doesn't even look as good as Killzone, and I could hardly tell a difference between COD. I deleted it after 10 minutes of generic play.

I agree 'Killzone 3' is a prettier game, but don't judge the BF3 gameplay specifically on this beta. This beta doesn't show off what true Battlefield is... vehicles and large open maps. They really should have used "Caspian Border" as the beta map.

Yeah, I'm playing it on PS3... We've only had Metro. You lucky PC guys got a little taste of that Caspian Border goodness!
To be honest, besides seeing through the ground after dying (a known issue that has been fixed in the final release), I haven't really noticed too many major bugs/glitches. It runs smooth, and I can get into a game super quick.

@Mustang Fanboy Its a beta and I haven't had any serious issues other than some graphical glitches, then again I'm playing it on my PS3 and haven't tried the 360 ver. .

Why are they using the Mercenaries logo to sell Battlefield 3?
Posted: Oct 3rd 2011 4:59PM Drakkenfyre said
@nimzy
Because the Mercenaries logo was a modified real-life emblem, and it's likely this game is using it as well?

Are you guys serious? Like a lot of people are saying, DICE announced this months ago and it's been on Amazon since way back then. This is not news... In fact, I think you guys even reported on this at the same time, too.

Yo Joystiq you guys announced a few weeks ago that this wouldn't have a retail release on PC....Why are some sites selling pre-orders for PC? Will I have to install Origin when I get home? I'll support this game if it has a retail release for me as well, I just don't want to support Origin/EA at all if they force me to play it on Origin.
Posted: Oct 3rd 2011 5:19PM Cranky Penguin said
@trinica They are forcing even buyers of a physical copy to install Origin. So I won't be playing this.

Before Gears 3 was released, I checked the pre-order bonuses for Gears 3, BF3, and MW3 (The Three Threes!!). Gears 3 netted a $20 credit (after it shipped) towards your next purchase, to which I used towards a BF3 pre-order. I'm glad to see added value for a strategically discounted price. Shop smart!

I won't be getting this game. Really disappointed with the beta. It runs like absolute crap on my gaming laptop (even with all graphics set to low, and lowest res possible):
2.2 Ghz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1333 DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M
Window 7 64bit
Runs CoD Black Ops at a smooth 60fps on high settings
before you go hating, this thing is way more powerful than an XBox 360.

That's weird, it runs beautifully on my gaming desktop with everything but AA maxed. 2.4GHz i7, 6GB DDR3, Radeon HD 6970, Windows 7 64bit. That's not so huge a step up that it would hardly run at all on yours. I know AMD released some drivers updated specifically for BF3, have you tried them? If you have, maybe report it to DICE, because I would think that rig would run it.
