It's simple pre order from BestBuy to get the book. Then wait for the other two to be released as DLC.

Naw, you weren't the only one who liked the game, trust me I love FF13 as well.

Thing is, the game itself is VERY divisive. And I have to emphasize the "very" part. It's heavily linear (not necessarily bad), the first 15-25hrs of the game is a real drag to play through since it restricts you heavily on how and who you play with until the game does open up.
If you get past that though the combat is fun and quick and after playing around with it becomes rather intuitive. It's just those first two points tend to really kill off player interest.

@psnshe69mee

Not to be a jerk, but I'm astonished that anyone liked it. I've never found combat more boring and the linearity was just too much. Also, the characters weren't great and the summons were dumb. It came out on my birthday, and I was ready to love it. I played through the entire thing and regretted it heavily.

I'm glad some people liked it, because I want Square-Enix to keep making FF games, but I really hope they take a different approach on the battle system and go back to the great stories of 6, 8, 9, and such for the rest of their games.

FFXIII-2 will be a bargain buy, if ever. I'm a HUGE FF fan, having played nearly every iteration except III and the spin-offs. But XIII was not the right game for me. The characters didn't click with me, the levelling system was rather meh and the last dungeon killed my interest in it completely.

And from what I've seen of XIII-2 so far, it will be even WORSE. Not only will there be much more "yadda, yadda, yadda overblown drama", but they had to add QTEs to the battle system? Thanks, but no thanks.

@BFBeast666 I'll go for the next Dragon Quests instead. Got to the series via IX, I play VI on my DS right now and I'm more psyched for X than for any other JRPG at the moment (Xenoblade excluded, it's already in my Wii).

@psnshe69mee I put in 120+ hours to platinum the game on the PS3. I'm one of the ones who enjoyed the combat system, though I'll probably wait for this one to go to the bargain bin.

That's why they're making a sequel to it, because they knew you were the only one who liked it and wanted to make you happy.

Yep. The only one.

@psnshe69mee It's only popular to hate it on the Internet. You know, how it's fun to hate FPS players, but then while not on the net, they act the same way, or even do the exact same thing.

Talk and criticism on the Internet with a grain of salt. Especially on popular sites, and ESPECIALLY about video games, political parties, music. movies and social media.

If I had to sum up all my feelings about FFXIII I'd say the whole thing felt like... a long minigame, where you pretend to play Final Fantasy. "We have battles, see? And you get to visit different places! That's what FF is all about, right? It's like you're playing a real game!"

You know some of those microgames in Warioware, where they basically take a NES game, like Metroid, pick out a tiny part and simplify it until it can't go any further?

That's what FFXIII felt like to me. Except this time I paid 60 bucks for just one. While expecting to actually get the whole game.

@Nathanaeldotcom For me, i prefer the battle system from FF7 crisis core. And the FF Type-0 battle looks excellent as well from the trailer shown and what i've read. Turn based is not really my thing although i do enjoy it sometime.

@BFBeast666 FFXIII-2 IS a bargain buy, especially with the upcoming games (I'm looking at Dark Souls and BF3 -- the shooter will definitely make me feel proud for buying two 6950s for.. a damn good price!).

If anything, FFXIII's style could be summed up in a few words: run forward (scenes) and press X (fights). Oh, and very rarely you'll get those, "Oh, I actually have to think" fights (e.g. Vercingetorix), though I'm sure the majority scrubbed their way through those one with sheer-grinding (which is.. sad for them ^^;).

An awesome series that went downhill. Makes it even worse when the company blames an MMO (HAHA!) for tarnishing the FF line. If anything, FFXIII did.

But unless its the same Omega from V, count me out for that.

"I'll buy all the DLC anyway"

Welcome to the Part of the Problem Club. Benefits include giving companies reasons to hold content ransom, buying stupid season passes and online passes, paying for superficial skins, and feeling like a tool.

Enjoy!

But yeah this solidifies the "no sale" thing for me.

Don't like DLC? don't buy it. i see no problem with DLC, if it make me part of the your "problem" with DLC fine be so because i don't care about you, i like what i like and will buy what i want to buy and will not be judged by the likes of you.

Honestly, were they ever inspiring? Perhaps they brought some sort of ominous symbolism to whatever they depicted but they were never anything as deep as the game tries to be.

This one is just two characters with swords out. FF7 had the meteor, FF8 had the lovers, FF9 had the crystal, FF10 had the summoner, FF12 had the judge. They all fit really well. This one just looks lazy.
