The Official PlayStation Blog has official details on the official Gran Turismo 5 update, officially coming in the next few weeks. The new patch offers new official interior views for all of the cars in the game, reduced load times, adjustable weather conditions, the ability to save during an extended race, and updated photo and shuffle modes. The game will also now officially support the Logitech G25 and G27 racing wheels, and the patch even adds official (of course) versions of the 2011 Nascar racing cars.
And perhaps most exciting, Polyphony Digital will be officially dropping a "full batch of downloadable content" for Gran Turismo 5 in the next few weeks, including new vehicles, new tracks, and "some additional surprises." Sony says you can watch the official website for more details. And what's more, the official price on the game is officially dropping, down to $39.99.
Unofficially? With Forza Motorsport 4 due out next week, it sounds like Sony's aiming to do a little crowdpleasing among the Gran Turismo faithful.

Sim racers are boring. Need for Speed Underground 2 was the best racing game ever. Come on EA Need for Speed Underground 3!

If you've spent more money on body mods than you have on performance, likely all you have is a slow car that looks stupid.
That's why "ricing" is a joke to pretty much anyone in the car community.
BTW: i'm asian, ricing isn't a racial term. You see more hispanic guys driving rice'd out hondas where I live. It doesn't mean asian people or anyone specific. Just any clot that paints his car purple and doesn't bother not making it a slow piece of shit.
It's like this, you can put lipstick on a pig. it's still a pig

haha That might be what people are trying to make RICE stand for now, but the term ricer started with rice rocket and rice burner. Those terms are as old as the hills.
I know I first heard the term in like 1988 but it probably started in the Korean war or the Vietnam war cause I know my grandad knew of the term

@CaptainProtonX At least we are getting it for free. Unlike some companies who have first day DLC.

Except GT5 is about looking at the beauty of the car itself. If you want LOLDECALZ AND STICKERZZ go play Forza, no reason whatsoever to want graffiti on both of the games if one does it "so well" as you put it.

@PointlessPuppies "LOLDECALZ and STICKERZZ" doesn't come close to describing, as I've seen tremendous amounts of time and efforts put into cars over the course of my playtime in Forza 2/3, and if GT had something like that I'm sure it would improve the game, if only a little.

Also if Sebastian Vettel wins the championship this saturday everybody who logs in will get a free Red Bull X1 (or some flavor of X1), which is the hardest car to get in the game.
And just so you know as long as Sebastian Vettel doesn't crash on the first lap then he will pretty much win. He's in 1st with a very large lead and theres no realistic way he could lose other than crashing.

Reaching level 30 or 40 or whichever it was in b-spec to get the redbull x1 wasn't that hard. Actually, it required no effort at all since giving b-spec bob an over powered car and walking away took little effort.
Anyways, sorry polyphony, it's sadly a little to late for me as I sold the game months ago. Had some of these been included at launch or shortly after (over a year is ridiculous) I'd still be playing.

Developer stops supporting game after a year. Gamers complain that they aren't committed.
Developer keeps supporting game after a year. Gamers complain that they take too long.
Are we really gonna be like that? Just shut up and be happy that Kaz/Polyphony are so willing to keep working on their game post-release.

Are you serious??? Interior views of all the cars now? I did NOT expect this! This must have taken so much time and effort!! Thank you so much PD!!

hold your horses, its just a black silhouette of the cars interior, open air cars use the existing model and put the camera where the helmet is. Not sure why they couldnt do the same for normal cars since those also have simplified interiors that you can see from outside.

This is so great! I have been planning to purchase GT5 for weeks now, but I was only holding off because of a few glaring issues (which have subsequently been fixed with this update), so I think it's finally time to pick this bad boy up. Good job PD, good job.

So THAT'S what they've been doing for months, giving interiors to the rest of the 1,000 cars.

Pretty good additions, i hope for some interesting DLC tracks! As much as i love 2 Nurburgrings, Suzuka Circuit ,Tsukuba and Fuji Speedway (my favourites) i'm getting pretty tired of those by now. I want something challenging probably from F1 calendar. i dislike non-real world tracks.

Just to clear things up, the interiors on the standard cars will be kinda like the interiors on the PSP Gran Turismo: Blacked out interiors where you only see the shape of the dash and steering wheel..
Anyways, great news nevertheless.. At least with this option we dont have to get used to another view when we choose a standard car!

If Sony wants to make Gran Turismo better than Forza Motorsport, they need to allow players to make custom decals and paintjobs and allow people to auction them off. Why they're still not doing that is beyond me.

@Maxx the Slasher because this is a racing simulator, not a ricing simulator.

This post omitted a few details about the update
- The standard cars will still look the same on the outside, and the interior views are one of several 'generic' cockpits. Although some cars will get original and true to life interiors.
- There is a new opening cinematic
- You can now have multiple suspension/tranny/drivetrain/etc setups for a car
- Online mode changes

I'm excited for new tracks (PLEASE have San Fancisco back!), and also the in-game endurance save. I've not completed a single endurance race yet, because I've been waiting for the save feature.

Actually, I never bought GT5 even though I enjoyed the hell out of 3.
Price drop and mid-race saves might just tip me.

This is annoying. They put off GT5 forever, and when they finally release it, it's only half done. Then they wait until a major competitor launches to finish the game that they had plenty of time to finish in the first place. Just like my 12 year old when he turns his homework in a week late, they get no credit with me. I'll stick with Forza and Turn 10, who can put the right product on the shelves on day 1.
