for an "innovative" creation kinect doesn't really have any games near innovative or at the very least creative,they are all the same duck and hop brawler/shooter with different makeup.

@peternography And Wii and Move do? All of these devices seem to simply provide new ways to control the same games ... that's the innovation!

A horrible idea, providing people with a false sense of security.

No substitute for proper training and common sense...

@Lostangel919
I doubt anyone's going to go skipping down a dark alley while thinking their Kinect just turned them into Batman.

These games are utter trash. I've studied a martial art for over 2 years, and can say from experience that punching/kicking/blocking the air does little to nothing to prepare you for a real fight.

You may know the technique, but you won't know how to control yourself. You can't use 100% power into the air or you're hurt yourself, so you need pads or heavy bags. You can't know how to position your arms to prevent your body/head being hit unless someone tries to actually hit you with a stick. You won't know how to properly judge distance of your arms/legs until you spar with someone to try it on a moving target. You won't know how to control a knife in an attacker's hand until you can feel how their arms bend and how they will fight back when you try to regain control.

I'm cool with it being called a fitness game, but this won't teach anyone self defense.

I would buy a tai qi quan trainer program for Kinect, that might be fun. Giving people the feeling that they could actually defend themselves by mimicking moves they see on-screen is a bad idea, though - no sense of feedback or an opponent's strength in this.

@(Unverified) Yeah, that would be better. Tai Chi is awesome!

Wow. I really hope this doesn't get someone killed. Shadowing moves is a good way to improve your technique, but there is no substitue for actually getting hit and performing on a real body. This idea should've been shot down instantly.

Good thing they used a "hot expert". Otherwise, people might actually take this seriously.

Let the Wii-style shovelware for Kinect commence.
