Gah, I hate all these pre-order exclusive retailer DLC deals. Normally, I'm not a fan of Robin but that looked sick.
Hopefully I can mod in these characters/skins or "lookalikes" into my game. Maybe I can even create my own! =)

@xiLeShadow i'm also tired of retailer specific pre-order bonuses. at least they tend to come out as dlc later, but i'm usually over it by then.

By fully playable character I think they mean you can play as him, he's not just a trophy.
He probably will still jut be in challenge maps though.

I think they're trying to see how many heads they can pop before release, My head blew while watching this, in fact, your not even really reading this, your head has also blown. The game has generated so much awesomeness its created a paradox.
Its going to be a grim sight when my parents find me sitting at my desk with my pants down, j#zz all over the screen n keyboard, and A Batman; Robbin trailer on full-screen.

Lovely. So basically they cut out half the game roster, before release, and they want to sell them to you for cash. I love it when companies do that. Cut out content that was planned for the game, then demand you pre-order or try to get it at DLC. The last game I did that with was Mass Effect 2.
Well, here's the thing: I think it's adorable you've decided to gut half the features of the game and sell them back to me, but I don't have $80 to buy what used to be $50 on day 1. So either bring this out all together for $30 a year later as an "Ultimate Edition" (WITHOUT THE DRM. I'm looking at you BAA), or I just won't get your failure of a cash grab at all. M'kay? M'kay.

Oh really? Whose loss will it be when they take the next step and cut out the ending of that $60 game you just bought, and demand you give them $20 just to finish the game you bought? Idiot. I'm making a stand and preaching with my wallet. There are far too many better games in this entire industry to grab. Especially when folks like CDProjekt are, GASP, giving away all their DLC for free!

Question - Ignoring the DLC released, do you feel as though you got $60 worth of value from your purchase of Mass Effect 2?

To be honest... well, no. I never even finished it. I pre-ordered it, got it release day... and I never finished it. Contrast this with the fact I bought the Ultimate version of Dragon Age Origin, like, $30, and thrashed it. The same can be said for Fallout 3's Game of the Year edition (with all the DLC). I bought Torchlight for $20, even when it wasn't new (I played the demo of it), just HAD to have it... 54 hours later, I've got 2 characters almost at the very end, and beaten it once.
Heck, I replay the Orcs Must Die demo every so often, and it's not even released yet. I think it's quite sad, seeing as I did enjoy Mass Effect 1... though I got that game for about $10. I'm under the assumption my disgust came from the ideal of the "my team mates can die if I don't do this perfectly"... and that ungodly boring planet mining deal was part of a "perfect game".

@eat it Catwoman is a playable character for 10% of the main game. Robin is a pre-order exclusive character (likely available via DLC later on), and is only playable in challenge maps.

Catwoman is part of the game. She is playable. Every copy gets to play her because, she is part of the game.
Robin and Nightwing are the suppose Exclusive DLC/Pre-Order.

It could be worse. In a world where most of mainstream gaming culture is headed by the dudebros at Spike, Robin could very well just look like Marcus Fenix.

How about no? How about we DON'T pre-order? How about we put our money where our mouth is, and vote with our wallets? How about we send developers a message that we're fed up with retailer specific pre-order bonuses?

What is the problem? If Gamestop/ Best Buy/ Amazon/ whoever made a deal/paid for such exclusive dlc to be part of their pre- order offer, and that in turn either helps fund the development or the promotional campaign so we can have a better product, what's the big deal? You weren't going to play AC before it was revealed the existence of Robin?
Even then this "outrage" over exclusive dlc is overblown. More often than not pre- order dlc is nothing more than early unlockables of items/characters that you get by finishing the game or achieving a certain goal in- game. In the remaining cases that dlc is just released at a later time.

For the North American market, I still prefer Joker's Carnival. Robin never appealed to me.

There are two challenge maps included with him, both of them more unique than Joker's Carnival. Robin also has achievements. Basically, the Joker Carnival Challenge Map is a useless portion of the game.
