Hold on, UE3! Crytek is 'investigating' Flash for CryEngine, 'cross-platform solution' reveal soon
19
Sounds like we weren't the only ones impressed by Epic Games' announcement of Flash support for the ubiquitous Unreal Engine 3. The crosstown engine peddlers at Crytek have been "looking into supporting Flash" in CryEngine, Edge reports, and will announce a "truly cross-platform solution" soon. With UE3 now supporting Flash, in addition to Mac OS, iOS, Android, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, CryEngine's support of just the big three is beginning to look a tad anemic.
"It is an interesting approach we've been investigating as well," Carl Jones, director of global business development for CryEngine, said of Epic's announcement. "We're developing a unifying technology to create high quality social and gaming experiences on all platforms including browser, smartphones, tablets, etc. We hope to be able to tell you more about it soon when we present our truly cross-platform solution."
With Crytek Seoul hard at work on the free-to-play FPS Warface, it's not surprising to learn that Crytek is looking to broaden the potential audience for its games as much as possible. What's next, Crysis on your console? Oh ...

If CryEngine3 ended up supporting Flash I'd be extremely pleased. It would make a lot of things easier.

With all these new investments into the Flash market, Flash gaming will soon become a good thing in comparison to other platforms.
More Quake LIVE-like games is always good.

I like flash, except for the constant updates and constant bugs. Adobe is getting lazy and really needs to make flash a more efficient platform. It used to be clean and manageable, but in the past year or so it's really gone down hill.

Why is the eye logo so popular? Especially in graphics tech? This reminds me of the nvidia logo..

@Atonnis I believe the correct way to say it is "Can it run Crysis?"

I never understood why hasnt there been cross platform games between ps3 and the 360...I would figure a shooter would be the first to test mantle against mantle to prove to the world who the best gamers are on a tourny level. I'm tired of people discrediting ps3 gamers and making them out to be lesser than a 360 player. Theres also talk about if you're a true gamer it doesnt matter about the controller you use... I very much disagree I feel that for some people the difference in controller creates a huge disparity when it comes down to the deciding twitch which is the difference between life and death. When I play on the 360 my playing style is different i'm more cautious less confident in my gun game because I dont feel comfortable with a 360 controller and its not because I dont spend a lot of time with it its just that I dont like it point blank. *how will I tie flash into this?* oh yeah well if Cry can bring all platforms together to play across ill be rooting for them.
