too bad the game is coming to a dead console. nintendo needs to stop trying to "reinvent" gaming and focus on good games. They've become a company that constantly just regurgitates remakes of old games. makes me sad.

@wookiehole I think this looks like a good game. Perhaps one they've focused on?

I'll admit the Nintendo of today isn't the one I fell in love with (and Zelda admittedly isn't "turning my crank" like it did during the ALTTP/OoT era), but I don't understand how they're trying to re-invent anything by regurgitating remakes.
If anything, I would love for a more conservative approach to Zelda; make the biggest and baddest version of the traditional formula they're capable of on new hardware. Ignoring Sunshine, it's worked great for Mario because the Galaxy games are great. To me, everything since Majora's Mask has felt a bit like "Zelda Gaiden" and hasn't had the epic feel of the classics.

To clarify my little thesis (because I've been up since 6AM studying and dealing with a girlfriend who's slamming doors over leaving a box of granola bars out on the counter...):
Even if Nintendo is not doing what I personally want (an old-fashioned OoT/ALTTP-style quest), they're still trying new things. You can't say they're regurgitating their classics and then complain they're trying to re-invent them.

I wish they'd make a Zelda game in the vein of LoZ or ALTTP but make it absolutely gorgeous and huge. Make it 50 times larger than ALTTP while making it open world non-linear exploration like LoZ. Throw in a truly epic soundtrack and I'd be hooked.
Personally, I'm slowly but surely losing interest in the series. That saddens me because The Legend of Zelda has always been my favorite franchise in gaming.
(I should load up LoZ on my 3DS and give it another run though.)

Was it just me, or did anyone else immediately think of Midna when that first line appeared?
Unlikely, yes, but damn it, I want more tragic yet adorable snark.

@Nook: I know people harp on milking and not innovating and all that other garbage, but when I play a Zelda title, I know what to expect.
And that is greatness. New dungeons to explore, new enemies to destroy, more doohickeys to collect and subsequently forget about until they are explicitly required in their small niche role, but the same old no-ass-giving wrench to save.
The only thing that bothers me is the Wiimote control scheme being forced.

I've loved Zelda ever since the first one came out when I was in the 6th grade but I just cannot seem to get excited about this game. I want to want to play it, but I just don't. Maybe it's because there are so many other fantastic-looking games coming out or maybe it's because I was so utterly disappointed by Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks.
Or maybe I'm just dead inside. :(

@baby sea tuna You are definitely not alone. I'm in the same boat, Wii's motion controls and its low-resolution are just too much for me to handle for a 50-100 hour game. Though, what's stopping you from being hyped? It has a solid publisher and gameplay that's been proven good, and will apparently have a strong story-line this time around. Twilight Princess' story was weak.

Would anyone else absolutely LOVE a real Zelda game for the PC? Not necessarily an MMO or anything, just like, Ocarina of Time with mouse/keyboard controls would be pretty awesome. I know I can play with the gamepad, but I'm a PC gamer by trade....I would think Nintendo could do a fantastic job with something like that.

I'm defiantly getting this Day 1. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't buy an HD remastered version for Wii U if Nintendo ever decides to do that.

Which do I buy at the start of December when exams finish, and which do I leave until Christmas?
