Relic is better known for using the Warhammer 40K universe in its Dawn of War real-time strategy series. Space Marine, Relic's new, more action-oriented take, fittingly launched into the hell of end-of-year game retail and is apparently surviving. In our review we found the studio's "expertise can extend far past the RTS genre they've already conquered," and the game has held steady on the UK sales charts.
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 'Exterminatus' DLC drops Oct. 25

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine's free "Exterminatus" co-op DLC will kill in service to the Emperor on October 25, according to Eurogamer. The DLC includes two, four-player scenarios that pit the Space Marines (or "SPACE MARINES!" as is incessantly shouted throughout the whole game) against Orks and Chaos. Relic is reportedly working on more content for the game, which will be released as free and premium DLC sometime in the future -- certainly sometime before 40K.

So much for 30 days after release, early October.
Whatever, I'm just impatient.

This game is so much fun. My favorite brawler since God of War 2, no contest.

So, is this split screen or online only? I Redboxed it for a day a few weeks ago, with the idea that I'd buy it after this patch if I can couch co-op after my buddy and I beat Gears. If not, I guess I'll just rent it long enough to finish the rest of the truly excellent campaign.

Online only; and likely requires that you fill all 3 player slots to be able to play it; just like The Last Stand, which it is based off of.

This is the first time I've been disappointed by THQ and Relic. Honestly; if you advertise Co-Op, then decide it's going to be a DAY 30 DLC instead, maybe you should actually work on it. Like; make sure the code and everything is at least 50% in place before you release the game, so you're not scrambling over your own feet to get it released in thirty days, and end up releasing it fifty days after release.
I mean; I was looking forward to Co-Op in this game; which is why I pre-ordered, and why a few other friends pre-ordered. But then being told my pre-order was for a game with no Co-Op until the other games I've been wanting to play (Dark Souls, anyone?) are out? Bah, I would have cancelled right away.

Dark Souls can get bent. Glad I only rented it or I'd be filing for divorce right now (and I'm not even married.)
In fact, I think I just figured out how People Can Fly came up with such *ahem* colorful dialogue for Bulletstorm. They had someone play Demon's Souls, recorded the string of rabid Polish cursing that was produced, ran it through Babelfish, and voila! Dick-tits.

Point remaining; I have a lot more to play, and no reason to play Space Marine anymore; as such, they're getting no cash from me for the coming DLC.

Hooooly hell, I'm at 1 heart for demanding that a game developer stick to their own deadlines when they say a game's Co-Op is a day THIRTY DLC, when it's something that was supposed to have been included?
Anyways; I wasn't referring to Exterminatus. It was said that more DLC was to come after; all paid, just like Dawn of War 2. I don't want to spend 7.50 for reskins with slightly different additions, for a game that isn't bring properly run and managed

So why do all the space marines have two warts on their foreheads?

This game made me start reading the Ultramarines books. It's freakin awesome and these guys live a long long time. The chapter leader was like what, over 400 years old at the time?
The universe of 40K is so awesome I can't even begin to describe it. You have to read it.

I played the demo and I liked it grealy. I decided to read some of the books to get into the world a bit more. I decided to read about the guardsmen first to understand the setting from a human perspective (The Founding Omnibus). After that it's onto the space marines (via the Horus Heresy). After this bit of reading I am counting on black Friday deals to smooth out the painful purchase price of a game that I will not be multi-playing.
