Never before have our hearts received news with such confusion: In a recent interview with IGN, Toy Story writers Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen hinted at their next project: A movie adaptation of Zynga's Farmville franchise. "We're in conversations with Zynga to do something with one of their brands," they teased. "Can't really say too much on that front yet, but 'Old MacDonald' didn't have a factory, if you get our drift." We do not get your drift. Your drift makes us sad.
We trust the two to craft a compelling story, but we worry there's not enough rich source material for them to base it on. All we know is we're not looking forward to receiving a hundred daily invitations to go to the movie from our distant, distant cousins and fourth grade math teachers.

Let me guess, they hired Uwe Boll to direct?

You'll only get to watch the movie in tiny segments recurring every 6-7 hours. But if you miss any segment of 5 minutes then it sets you back a scene with micropayments (totaling up to $30 or more) if you want to experience the movie more quickly.

The easier to make, the more willing they will be.
When making any video game movie, the original creators want to be as true to the game it can be. Unfortunately directors tend to not want to follow directly from the original source & that's where the problem lies & that's why it's hard to find a director will give up a little of his creativity. And the funding could be apart of it also
So it's basically a never ending loop

So they rip off harvest moon, make bank off of it, and then make a kids movie? Who are these monsters?

The pitch for this movie would have been extremely entertaining to hear.
Zynga: "So like, there's a micro-transaction game about farming. Imagine all that excitement on the silver screen!"
Producer: "That sounds horrible. Hell no"
Zynga: " We've made over half a billion dollars with this game."
Producer: "Where do I sign?"

And your avatar brings up a pretty valid point.... *any* of the Harvest Moon games or spin offs, would even make a better movie than this BS.

Meanwhile, Shadow of the Colossus, Phoenix Wright, Duke Nukem, Team Fortress 2, Monkey Island, No More Heroes, Infamous, Pikmin, Katamari, Tetris, Mario Golf, Sneak King, Superman 64, ET the video game, and EVERY OTHER GAME IN THE WORLD THAT ISN'T FARMVILLE still don't have their own movie adaptions. Something's wrong there.

There was a Tetris movie. It was fan made and posted to You Tube. Even though I haven't watched it I'm quite sure it's better than the Farmville movie will be.

I can't believe it's the writers of TOY STORY, one of my all-time favourite movies, behind this... abomination. How the hell can you make a movie based on a crappy Facebook game that people obssess over because they're sad and pathetic?
Maybe it'll be like Barnyard. As cheesy as that was, it was okay. But I'm sure they've already done plenty of animal movies. Unless they're going to set the movie on a farm and suddenly reveal Leatherface. Now THAT would be an awesome children's film.

How about a documentary on just how calculating, cynical and manipulative the creators of "social games" are? That might actually make a difference.
