Yeah, I'm not sure why that needed to be included in this article.

There are a lot of too cute-cute promo campaigns where the publisher announces, "Shepard dies at the start of Mass Effect 2!". Or "[A key character] dies near the start of Arkham City!". And these reveals are usually misleading to throw the player off the trail, not spoilers.

But I'm not aware that "Holmes dies" has been part of the official press campaign for this game. It was disclosed to Justin, but that seemed to be an awkward, sloppy, demo, not part of a calculated PR strategy.

@Amstrad Not the only definition of testament or even the likely most obvious one that comes to mind.

Still anyone who knows anything about Holmes knows him dying or "dying" is always around the corner.

SPOILER-
I still remember Justin McElroy talking about this game on the Giantbomb's Bombcast. The guy showing the demo during E3 I believe says Sherlock Holmes dies 10 hours in. Quite hilarious Bombcast.

"The Testament of Sherlock Holmes was developed specifically for consoles, but is also a PC title."

I don't like this^. Why can't you focus on all three platforms equally instead of giving one or two platforms preferential treatment?

@xiLeShadow For the same reason that you probably don't buy every single game release. Resources are finite.

@xiLeShadow I agree with you my PC gaming friend, but the industry is stacked against the PC. Hell, we should be lucky we even GET a PC port these days. : (

@Grey Devil

As soon as I saw the title and the picture (Watson just standing there), I was hoping for a creepy Watson reference.

Is the Holmes dying thing officially 'out there' or is everyone getting that info from the Bombcast?

Hah, and your first mistake was to assume I had arms to which hands could be fixed to in order to pat my back. Seeing this title, I immediately had my arms removed and sent to one of your coworkers locations.
The second mistake that coworker will make will be to put on that tampered bottle of cologne/perfume for that big date of theirs.
And the third will be opening the mysterious package they received afterwords...

I believe that is what we call in Baseball, a strike.

Been looking forward to this since playing the last one. I'm willing to bet that Holmes "dying" will be some temporary element to move the story along as a part of a plan of his to draw out a suspect or whatnot. That or he really dies. I also remember first hearing it on the Bombcast and felt that no developer would be that stupid to tell that information to people if it was a huge spoiler.

the false statement was that there was a false statement. Way to throw a paradox in there in case GlaDOS was spying on you guys.

Holmes dies anyway. Doyle brought him back only because his readers didn't want to read his other stuff and demanded that he write more Holmes stories.

i'll wait and see.

Your hands and the soles of your feet are actually the only two spots which don't have sebaceous glands on your body, so your oil activated chemical is useless against back patting (assuming it's done with the hands).

Med school, ftw.

Meh, I'll just go for all achievements in LA Noire next time I want my fill of detective gaming again. I think my appetite was for the most part sated for the foreseeable future, however.

Please just let this not be the snooze-fest that the Sega CD pack-in game was. I don't even know how I managed to pass the first case since I was falling in and out of consciousness while playing.
