Dead Island's first bite of DLC, delayed so that developer Techland could focus on more pressing issues following launch, will arrive in mid-November. Game Informer received the latest release window, reiterating that the DLC will be free to those who pre-ordered Dead Island at GameStop and $10 for all other meatbags.
The "Bloodbath Arena" DLC, a wave-based survival mode, adds four new areas and some weapons, and allows players to transfer XP into the core game.

Sweet some more content! I love Dead Island but after beating it twice (just a decent campaign) and now just sitting down for some zombie killing sprees, it really has gotten stale as far as actually engaging gameplay goes.

I'm looking forward to playing some co-op. Just finished the campaign early Saturday morning.

At least you got to play through it. I'm one of those gamers that have IRL friends that I like to co-op with in the same house with our setups, but I just can't get them past the fact that the game is melee combat based. I don't want to play Left 4 Dead 2 anymore....

how was it? i've been hesitant to pick this one up. are there any RPG elements at all? how's the combat? if it were some sort of awesome mix between Deus Ex and Left 4 Dead plus hints of Condemned melee action than i would be all for it, but something is telling me that it's not nearly that awesome.

i would go as to say Dead Islands campaign is just normal, not super special, but not a total ball of suck. My thing is that I never got into the story and was WAY more captivated by simply slaughtering zombies left and right and collecting more badass weapons to do so with.
RPG elements are there, as there are skill trees, and at least some thought should be put in to which character you choose, but as far as weapons or crafting goes, sure you can get lucky and find some good stuff, but beyond that you are constricted to only crafting with preset weapon mods/schematics.
i wouldn't say it is much like L4D besides the zombie theme and somewhat relation in zombie types. I'd say it is worth a rent AT LEAST to just beat some good old fashioned zombie horde.

The co-op is really nice. Much more fun to say the least. Less-scarier than it already is though.

I'll take it...but I sure as hell hope it isn't just constant waves of infected.

That's why I'm not even sure if it's worth the $10, outside of being a completist about buying everything for the title.

Thanks to Gamestop for not taking my money 4 days before release so I could've gotten this free of charge. I realize "limited" implies that it's limited but "exclusive" usually implies the same thing as well, and that's usually BS/marketing with them, too.
Good game. Glad to see it get patched. I'll buy the DLC and sequel gladly.

Another survival mode gametype? Wow. You guys (i.e., video game audience excluding me) must really like playing that. I bet if they added zombie survival mode to Mass Effect 3, it would sell like pancakes...

@FlashJS No, I wouldn't want a horde mode in ME3. It would consist of Husks, Scions, and Praetorians.

my pre-order copy from steam has bloodbath so its not just for gamestop pre-orders only

Wait, so this is for Gamestop pre-orders only then?
Blah, screw that. I pre-ordered at Amazon and I was happily waiting for this (since I loved the game, put more than 30 hours into it) but I don't really need a survival mode for an extra $10.

Phew, almost made me feel bad! I caught the $45 deal on Amazon, but looks like I still would come out 5 bucks ahead! Hah!
