We know how you roll. November 11 and, thus, Skyrim, is coming up fast. You've been planning for weeks with Griswoldian fervor, deciding exactly how you will tour the vast countryside offered up by the latest Elder Scrolls. Something, however, was missing ...
... until now, that is! Bethesda has revealed the game's expansive map by way of the Igromir expo in Russia. Lucky attendees walked away from the event with a copy of said map and, fortunately for the rest of the world, a member of ElderScrolls.net was kind enough to post an image online. Said image was even subsequently translated into English. Now, gaze upon it. Gaze upon it and dream.

How much of that is a vast expanse of empty nothingness?

@Nook Did you play Oblivion? You could spend twenty minutes walking and not stumble onto anything interesting at all.

@Faceless Troll How can you not run into something interesting? I have multiple playthroughs and each around at least 50 hours. I just avoided the planes of Oblivion after the first two times lol, that got old fast. but you always come across creatures or caves and other things. But they have specifically said that they are attempting to have less open space anyways.

That is one of my favorite parts of the game. Just open world to explore, watch a deer grazing, see some people walking along paths. It makes the world seem real and not like a Michael Bayovie where shit is exploding and fighting everywhere.

If interesting stuff were everywhere, that makes them less interesting.
Finding something in the wilderness that seems out of place, and investigating it, and maybe being surprised by what you discover is what made oblivion so awesome to me.

@LinkRazr Deer grazing and people walking around? Have you ever been outside? I can get that right now. Give me the engagement of hand to hand combat!

Yeah, that's a bit annoying. At least they don't give you like 10 seconds to get back into the gaming area (bfbc) or else you instantaneously die.
It would be a beautiful thing if one of these days, there's a Bethesda game that integrates all the land masses, and the only real boundaries are the open waters of the sea.

@Alpo I was lucky enough to be in a position to upgrade my PC just this past week. SLI GTX560ti's i7 quad-core, 8gb ram... cost a pretty penny, but I can run Shogun 2 at ultra high settings 1080p at 60fps, so I'm hoping Skyrim isn't too much higher.
I apologize in advance for those who had to witness my PC D*** measuring, its just been SO LONG since I've been able to do that :)

As long as it's good to look at while travelling, I don't mind walking across this vast expanse of a map. I'm only annoyed by long travels if there's nothing much to look at.

I am so gonna get lost, and I can't wait.
Everything I see about this game makes me more excited for it's release. I played Oblivion for almost 300 hours and got all 1250 gamerscore from it, and I plan to do again in Skyrim. Hope no one needs me this winter. :)
