You'd have to be pretty optimistic to consider this a sign that Nintendo cares about North America at all.

Surprised this didn't get Refused Classification, that monster is about to rape that underage boy.

I'm going to go with a version of the game is in yet another region that isn't North America.

Don't get me wrong Australia needs some love.....

But its getting to the point that by the time NOA pulls their head out of their ass .... irreparable damage will have been done to what little reputation they had remaining... Seriously if this is a marketing stunt it is going to backfire bigtime .....

I'm already done with Nintendo. They've kept all the really good games (save for Mario Kart and Smash Bros) out of America, and it's been about... 2 - 3 years since I last played my Wii. Why? No really good games to keep me playing.

To be honest, I had no plans for these games, as the refusal to bring Mother 3 over was the nail in my coffin, but so help me, I think the 3DS will be the first handheld generation I skip. I think I'll just sit here and build my PC up, muchless their next console the first Nintendo home console I do not buy. All these console companies are just out of their nucking futs lately...

Considering that Oz and NZ also got Xenoblade, I don't think this is any indication that America will ge them. At least, not any time soon, it seems. I still don't understand why, because it seems like a huge loss of sales. Maybe I'm wrong. I dunno.

That really doesn't mean anything other than their Wii has a different video encoder chipset..... or in all likelihood just a transposed resistor/jumper.

Good news guys. We at nintendo are localizing The Last Story and Xenoblade. Even better news! It will be on the Wii U with our famous New Play Control!

I'm actually sorta bracing for an announcement along those lines .....

Tho honestly I think they would be better off not releasing the games at all than pulling a stunt like that. Because what that says to me as a consumer is....

"We are going to strive greatly to support the 'Core Gamer' by totally abandoning out old system (sucks to be you) buy you should buy our new system because things will be different!"

Yikes, is Nintendo just being a d*ck-tease now? Are they just gonna purposefully release it in every region but NA? Xenoblade was the top selling game of the week when it came out in Europe, just announce the damn games for America already.

Xenoblade top-selling game of the week in EU, really? It was the top-selling *Wii* game of the week for sure but I didn't think it was top of the multiplatform charts.

Great game, I'm about 40 hours in (and I expect it to take a whole lot longer; I'm doing loads of sidequests). But it's not going to compare with the Mario Karts of this world in terms of sales figures.

So I guess from the comments that Last Story was previously announced in EU? I hadn't noticed, so yay. I guess it won't be as good as Xenoblade (pretty much nothing is) but still, it looks promising.

By the way, I live in the EU but I have an NA Wii; I figured games would come out first in the US and there would be some that never made it to the EU. Big mistake. Anyhow I modded it as per Joystiq's instructions and it works fine (although a bit annoying having to go through 2 other programs before you can load the disc, it probably takes a whole 30 seconds - couldn't somebody make a 'disc loader channel' so you can one-click it from the Wii menu? oh well), so not a major problem.

@xxxsam Actually people have designed a disc-loading channel. It just requires a bit more research. What I find saves time (and saves your ass, as a precaution) is loading BootMii so your Wii will never brick. When you turn it on you can boot right into the Homebrew channel and be playing your games in roughly the same time it would have taken to boot a normal Wii and go to the disc loading channel.

As much as i'm extremely sorry for america not getting these games. I can't help feeling happy considering the sheer amount of games europe has missed out on. Though, Nintendo has been pretty kind to europe, other companies haven't been so forthcoming.

.... at this point they are pushing dangerously close to, being lucky if I buy a Used WiiU to play my Used copy of the newest Zelda game, territory.

I know I'm certainly not going to be buying a WiiU anytime near launch..... of course at this rate it wouldn't surprise me if NOA didn't even release the WiiU in NA......

Thank you NOA for giving your North American customers a reason to modify their Wii's to disable region locking.

You know, growing up Nintendo was always my favorite gaming company.
As I've gotten older, I've also gotten smarter. I'm now smart enough to realize that NOA are a bunch of dicks and really diminish Nintendo's reputation as a whole.

I will be importing The Last Story just like Xenoblade Chronicles, and I'm going to laugh at NOA while I do it.

You know what? I think it's not a smart decision to bring it over, since it's already localized, but really, how many of the Wii's audience is actually going to buy any of these games? I'd wager not many.

At any rate, I went ahead and imported Xenoblade. After the exchange rate, it cost me just shy of $50 (yay, thehut.com!). Not bad at all, and I highly recommend anyone that wants to play these games to just go ahead and do the same, and use GeckoOS to boot the game.
