'Infinity Blade FX' brings the iOS hit to arcades

For those looking to while away entire generations at their local Dave & Busters, Epic Games and Adrenaline Amusements are teaming up to put a big-screen version of Infinity Blade in the arcade/fried food chain, in either single-screen or two-player, two-screen configurations.

Infinity Blade FX uses the same cabinet as the arcade Fruit Ninja and Flight Control machines, all of which feature big-ass 46" touchscreens. It'll be in all 57 Dave & Busters locations by October 28, with other arcade and amusement park locations to be added later ... as those places buy machines, we suppose.

EPIC GAMES AND ADRENALINE AMUSEMENTS ANNOUNCE 'INFINITY BLADE FX,' COIN-OP RELEASE OF BLOCKBUSTER 'INFINITY BLADE' VIDEO GAME

'Infinity Blade FX' arcade game to debut at this week's 2011 Gaming and Electronics Expo (GEEX) in Salt Lake City, UT and become available nationwide at Dave & Buster's restaurant/entertainment complexes starting October 28

Montreal, Canada and Cary, NC (October 13, 2011) – Adrenaline Amusements in partnership with Epic Games, Inc. and its award-winning development studio, ChAIR Entertainment, today announced "Infinity Blade FX," the coin-up version of the blockbuster video game "Infinity Blade," will be released nationwide this month. The 46-inch arcade game will debut at this week's GEEX Consumer Expo in Salt Lake City, UT, October 14-15, 2011 (South Town Center Booth #423) while simultaneously making its first appearance across Dave & Buster's nationwide. "Infinity Blade FX," both in its single-player and two-screen multiplayer configuration, will be playable across Dave & Buster's 57 restaurant/entertainment complexes by October 28, 2011.

Powered by Unreal Engine 3, the critically acclaimed "Infinity Blade" ushered in a new generation of handheld gaming and became the definitive blockbuster experience on iOS. "Infinity Blade FX" will bring arcade players up to speed with today's most modern video game technology, offering an unmatched, supersized version of the game. Utilizing Adrenaline's TouchFX platform, arcade gamers in the United States will be the first to experience the mysterious realm of the "Infinity Blade" universe on a 46-inch screen with multi-touch capability. The arcade cabinet will make its debut in the arcade video game industry at the Forthcoming IAAPA – International Association of Amusement Parks and Attraction Expo taking place in Orlando, FL in November.

Yeah, I don't feel comfortable touching a screen a ton of other people have. Especially at a place like D&B.

@The Cole Train It is large when compared to the 4" and 9" devices people are used to playing the game on.

Besides the fact that it's kinda gross they probably wash those screens once a day if that... It sucks with fruit ninja. I do not want to play this on a giant TV. Making huge hand movements like that is not my idea of fun time at the arcade.

Anyway The game is all about leveling and grinding equipment. That's why it's great for the 40 minute train ride. I'd be annoyed if I had to wait that long to play any game at an arcade. .

Oh, what fresh hell is this?

I was at an arcade recently that had the Fruit Ninja FX arcade game. You pretty much just swiped your fingers on the giant screen. I had no interest in it.

ug, no thanks. Both these games would be lame with motion controls - Infinity Blade just dissolves into a flail-fest, and Flight control requires a lot more precision.

If you can't bear to touch a screen someone else has touched, chances are you aren't playing anything in a D&B anyway. Just think of all the joysticks and buttons that someone else touched! Ew, and the tokens! Quick question: how do you deal with money?

@shteevie Fruit Ninja works VERY well with Kinect, and that can be argued to be an even bigger flailfest. Infinity Blade requires a lot more precision and a lot more thought put into your actions. If a version were built around Kinect, it could be brilliant. Likewise with PS Move.

Chalk it up to a difference in preference - I'm not a fan of motion controls at all, and therefore a motion controlled version of these would be a complete turn-off for me.

People like lots of games, and not everyone has to like the same things. I am ready for the motion-control fad to be over, though.

If arcade's are supposedly not dead, then why do they throw these stupid touch screen games in there and not put in SSFIV Arcade-Hiroshima-Remix.HD edition?

Too bad there aren't any arcades left in the US to put one in.
