This could be fun, depending on price. Hopefully its a XBLA/PSN download, but since this is EA, I'm sure its at least $40.

I'm not much of a Madden fan, but if EA can make this as fun as the old games were, I'm on board.

Man, I miss me some NFL 2K5 though...

If EA really wants to make a retread from thier catalog, they need to remake MUTANT LEAGUE FOOTBALL. I'd buy the crap outta that.

I totally would buy a new MUTANT LEAGUE(Football or Hockey)title "with the quickness". I don't know why EA continues to push that idea by the wayside. Especially since it would be such an easy PSN/XBLA sell.

I would be a lot more excited about this if it wasn't EA making it. And since it's EA, of course Blitz Bucks will be sold separately so cheaters can boost their team online, ruining online play just like in NHL.

I don't care if it confirms every horrible Canadian stereotype, I really want a new NHL Hitz. That game may be the best "game that unironically uses a z instead of s" of all time.

And of course when I say z I mean zed. Cause, you know, Canada and all that eh.

Agreed. I only liked the first one, though. Hitz 2001? The one with Scott Stevens on the cover. I think it was developed by Black Box Games both years, and wasn't Black Box acquired by EA a few years ago?

@logicbus - They were. Black Box is the studio behind this year's Need for Speed: The Run.

I 100% agree on a new NHL Hitz. I don't agree on 20-02 being the best one though. The second game, 20-03, was infinitely better in my opinion. I played the crap out of that one. It's still, to this day, my favourite sports game of all time, without question.

The original Blitz games were probably the most fun I've ever had with a sports game. I've wanted something similar for years, but have sadly been consistently disappointed.

hmmm im kind of torn. i remember playing nfl tour and wondering why it was so bland, and then i read that the nfl wanted to clean up its image.. hence why tour came out and there was no more street.

so i think this game is being held back by those same policies that contributed to nfl tour being mediocre.

I've already got this game... it's called Madden NFL for Wii. Play 5 on 5 mode if you want an arcade style game play, or 11 on 11 for something slightly more realistic. But otherwise graphics and presentation looks identical to what they're showing here.

Midway is currently bankrupt. I'd say they sold the rights to EA when they sold the rights to names like NBA Jam as well.

Game looks cool but doesn't look "retail" ready. I am surprise they are going the retail route again considering what happened with NBA Jam. Maybe sales were worse online?

Seems like it would be a great download game but not for the disc. I mean when the game comes out the full version of Madden could be the same price.

It's $15 on XBLA & PSN.

As long as I can have balls of fire, headless players (with all of the classic cheats of Blitz 2000) and the ability to be able to tackle after the play is clearly over, I'm in! Also, I want an HD version of Blitz 2000 to come out for XBLA so if soemone doesnt like the reboot, they can play the original on Live and PSN
