Don't forget Skyrim which will probably be up there too this year, at any rate I can't wait to play my copy of it, been one of the games I've been looking forward to for a while now.

Warner Bros Interactive's checkbook made sure that Batman: AA was JoyStiq's Game of the Year before even the first screenshot was released.

Sadly this game has the same problem that arkham asylum had and that´s why it´s not a perfect game, and they didn´t fix it.......at a certain point sooner or later... the game has to end.

I feel so disappointed at this game. Ripping out entire levels (three chapters of the game!) in order to make it a preorder bonus, botching said preorder bonus so a good chunk of your customers can't even access said codes...

Ugh. Whats next?

I never really listened to the doomsayers of perorder bonuses and whatnot, but I have to admit things are changing and I don't think its for the better.

I was a little bummed when I found out that 50 Ach. pts were reserved for the Robin stuff, which was a preorder bonus/paid DLC...but then I actually played the game and now I don't care about anything but flying around the city and beating the holy hell out of creepy masked gang members.

@Nashk they are 3 completely optional chapters that don't even really have an impact on the story. She's no more important to the story than robin was. They are basically "deleted scenes" from the game and nothing more. I really don't know why people are up in arms about this when GoW2 did the same thing.

Those are some extensive "deleted" scenes we have here. So deleted in fact they might come in a copy with the game! (if your codes arn't missing from the box, or just plain don't work of course)

Arkham city is a great game no doubt, but I just can't support it. What will be next? What will they rip out next so we have to play?

What happens to those of us with slow capped internet, and can't get DLC?

What happens in the future when servers for the DLC are down, and you can't get the chapters?

Its all crap.

"What happens to those of us with slow capped internet, and can't get DLC?"

You wait for the Game of the Year Edition.

"What happens in the future when servers for the DLC are down, and you can't get the chapters?"

You get the Game of the Year Edition, which will likely have already been out by then.

The code says it expires in 2016, so I think it's safe to assume that the servers will support it until then.

I agree with you, it´s crap... but it´s crap that people supported the day we accepted to pay "a few bucks" for a virtual gun, people never see the big picture. First it was a virtual gun, then as people accepted that practice they started to make it bigger and bigger and now full levels and characters are "sold separately" when those same things used to be bonus or hidden stuff in the game, what can i said?? people laughed at the "crazy idea" that companies were going to charge more and more and take out more and more content from the game, and they said that the companies were just making "additional money" by selling virtual guns, nothing bad on that...now nobody laughs.........

Seriously, this whole DLC mess is the only downside of this amazing game. Luckily the GOTY edition will fix this problem, but I have a feeling it will have online pass too.

The only problem with GOTY editions is that it seems to be increasingly more common for the game to just ship with some DLC codes, so you don't even end up with the DLC on the disk.

The best superhero game ever made, the best licensed game ever made, the best Batman game ever made and one of the best games overall ever made. Yup. This game managed to surpass my lofty expectations. Playing as Catwoman is a blast. I only wish she had more levels. I would play a whole game as her and I was not looking that forward to her.

@Co I don''t know why you were down voted either. IGN had an article on some ideas they could do with Arkham on the Wii U. Honestly, none of them were that great but If nothing else you could move all the clutter down to the Wii U screen to make the experience feel less interrupted.

@DockenWS82 I love how WB didn't even let PC gamers know of the delay until less than a week before the 18th. On top of that, they're launching the PC version a week after Skyrim comes out. It's almost like they WANT PC gamers to ignore this title. What a waste.

If my fiancee didn't get the free code with her GTX580, I probably wouldn't even bother. So tired of PC gamers being treated like second-class citizens.

I played about 2 or 3 hours last night, and I am having a blast so far. It appears to be as much of an open world as Saints Row 2 and GTA 4. It's a lot of fun, and I will be playing this a lot.

I was looking forward to this, and now, I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but the pacing just isn't as rich or focused as Arkham Asylum. You get introduced to like 5 villains in a matter of minutes, there's always side quest ringing over your radio, everything feels so ADD.

It basically feels like InFamous starring Batman. I dunno, I would have preferred they slowly give you access to the city while introducing villains at a slower pace. It sorta cheapens their importance when they're thrown at you. Also the dialog is incredibly cheesy, even moreso than the last game. Mark Hamill is once again the game's saving grace.

Combat is more refined, but the glue holding everything together is pretty thin. Will still continue it, but man I never felt so overwhelmed while being underwhelmed at the same time.

Agreed. Good points. It went from 0 to 60 in no time flat. I almost felt like I missed something, and asking, "why am I here again?" The whole explanation for Arkham City was so quick. Then you're suddenly fighting a ton of baddies. I wish they had slowed it down a bit in the begining. But it's still great fun.

I got to play for a couple of hours on PS3 last night (after waiting 75 FREAKING MINUTES for the Catwoman content to download from PSN for the game I paid for).

Loving the game, but I am surprised that the framerate drops a bit in third-person view. It's worse outside than inside, but it is noticeable inside as well. The game also has regular graphic stutters at the start of a new scene.

I don't remember these issues when I played Arkham Asylum on the 360? Is this an Arkham City feature or a PS3 feature?

I was irked that it took a while for the Catwoman stuff to d/l too, but can you imagine the internet shitstorm if it was a 100k unlock instead of a 235M d/l? You're damned if you do, yadda yadda.

Though I'm not sure what IGN is talking about with "amazing opening." The opening was too fast for me. I think the opening of AA made more of an impression on me. Maybe because it was the first game.

I'm not sure why this game is getting such rave reviews. It's basically an open-world Arkham Asylum. Granted, that game was good, but it wasn't THAT good.

There is way too much going on right now. I'm about halfway through the game and I've already dealt with more villains than I can remember. There is no tension or lead up or suspense. It's just, dispatch one mega-villain after another, like they're nothing but common thugs.

And the combat is still the same old "cramming on three buttons" bit. The game is still fun, I love stealthing around, taking a room of enemies out without raising an alarm, but it's nothing new.

@diggity and that's what we wanted isn't it? refinement of an old formula...don't fix what's not broken. I mean what you want a sequel to do is give you more of what was right, work through what was wrong and overall up the ante. I think Arkham City gets it right...so far. It's overwhelming a bit, but then you're not confined to one building.
